It’s all over but the shouting, and there will certainly be more of that in Sunday’s singles after quite a bit of it Saturday.
As Saturday afternoon’s four-balls come to a close, Europe is in total command. Yes, the Americans have not taken advantage of opportunities when they presented, but really, Europe is winning this thing regardless.

How do you beat Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood when they birdie 12 of 16 holes? How do you beat Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry when, seemingly every time, one of them makes a putt moments after the other misses? How do you beat Jon Rahm when he’s holing out chip shots sideways?
This is not the USA choking it away or Keegan Bradley making bad decisions or Scottie Scheffler, now 0-4 over the two days, not showing up. This is Europe taking it to the Americans, now leading 11.5-4.5, just 2.5 points shy of victory.

This thing is just about done. Europe dominated once again today and holds an 11.5-4.5 lead entering the Sunday Singles matches. They need just 2.5 points to retain the cup

Finally, Tyrrell Hatton and Matt Fitzpatrick pulled ahead to pick up the last win of the day. The duo stuck identical approach shots just a few feet from the cup for a birdie at 18, which gave them the 1UP win over Sam Burns and Patrick Cantlay.
Europe leads 11.5-4.5 now headed into the singles matches. They’re just 2.5 points away from officially retaining the cup.

Though Jon Rahm and Sepp Straka led by two at one point, Xander Schauffele and J.J. Spaun rallied to grab the win with a huge birdie from Spaun at the 18th.
The full point is the first that the U.S. team has scored all day. Europe leads 10.5-4.5 now.

The final two matches are suddenly all square, thanks to a huge birdie from J.J. Spaun at the 17th. The Ryder Cup may be just about out of reach, but two points here would be huge for the Americans entering Sunday

Well, things have gotten extremely quiet at Bethpage Black. Europe has silenced the American crowd almost completely with two matches still wrapping up.
It’s a stark contrast from just a few hours ago, when security had to run in to help keep the peace.

They had to fight until the very end, but Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry have officially beaten Justin Thomas and Cameron Young 2UP. The crowd was intense with this group, and a large police presence came out to assist, but the Europeans pulled it off in the end. McIlroy and Lowry embraced on the green after Thomas conceded, and then erupted toward the crowd one last time.
Europe leads 10.5-3.5 now with two matches left in the day.

Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau both missed their birdie looks to extend their match, so Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose have won the first battle of the afternoon 3&2.
Europe has 9.5 points now, and is leading in the other three matches.

Justin Rose, after getting into it briefly with Bryson DeChambeau’s caddie, just sank a long birdie putt at the 15th. Things have gotten a bit heated on the walk up to the next hole, too, when Scottie Scheffler’s caddie Ted Scott got into it with Tommy Fleetwood and the Europeans.
Looks like things have settled down now, but it’s definitely tense out there. Fleetwood and Rose are 3UP now at the 16th.

14 holes, 11 birdies for Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood. Think that would win your local scramble?
Of course Bryson DeChambeau missed a short one for birdie, but whatever, it hardly matters.
This is how you put a beatdown on two of the best golfers on the planet, including the World No. 1.

Nine feet for Rory … he makes. Six feet for JT … he misses. Birdie for Europe and they take the lead.

Scottie Scheffler has four feet for birdie at No. 12 to wi …. uhh, no, Tommy Fleetwood drops one from 26 feet. Jeez, there is no beating these guys.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: US has a couple birdie putts to win the hole and … can’t make them. Both Burns and Cantlay had putts to win No. 11 and both missed. They remain one back.

Fleetwood hits his approach to 6 feet, and Rose follows to 3 feet. Bryson DeChambeau had 20 feet to tie, but alas, it didn’t drop, and even if it had, only a half. Fleetwood drained his as Europe continues to step on the gas.
Europe is now 2UP.

From just inside where J.J. Spaun just dropped one at 10, Sam Burns does the same. Finally, some putts are dropping for the Americans but … Matt Fitzpatrick answered. Europe is relentless.

Spaun has played solid, but has burned a ton of edges. Not at No. 9, when he dropped it in from 42 feet to win the hole and get one back for the Americans.

Weird rule: Per SI’s Bob Harig, if he can’t play, the opposing captain puts one of his player’s name in an envelope and that player will sit out as well, and the two teams will split the point. Yes, you read that correctly. It’s not just forfeited.

Scottie Scheffler couldn’t knock down his birdie, but Bryson did from 11 feet as the US gets one back.
