Patrick Rodgers casually drops a 62 (-10) at Plantation — and says he didn’t even go out intending to shoot low.

He breaks down:

Why you can’t force a low number on the PGA TOUR

How calm conditions and pure greens fueled his confidence

The mindset shift that’s helped him make way more birdies

His great memories from Seaside and the RSM Classic

How close he is to locking up an Aon Next 10 spot for the Signature Events

A brutally honest and insightful breakdown from a red-hot contender.

All right, Patrick. Uh, 10 under 62. Excellent round. If we can get some comments on your play. Yeah. Um, it felt uh felt really nice out there. Obviously, I I I knew the first couple of days with the the calm conditions, the softer greens, the beautiful surfaces that some low scores were out there. Um, I I felt confident because the Plantation Golf Course played a little easier than Seaside did yesterday, so I felt like there was a good round out there. Um, that said, it’s it’s kind of hard to shoot a really low round if that’s your intention the whole way through. So, I just tried to to put one good shot after another. Um, and was fortunate that kind of that patience and and persistence paid off into making a lot of birdies. It’s it’s interesting the the ones where you’re not thinking about the runs that you’re on end up being kind of those really low numbers. So, it was nice to put it all together. What do you prefer like being on the offensive or is it uh or do you like to go out there and just sort of So, in my career, it’s typically that’s been a harder mindset for me to to switch into. Um, usually I prefer the golf courses that play really difficult where par is a really good score. Um, my experience as a college player and playing, you know, difficult USGA championships and all that. Um, I’ve always kind of plotted my way around the golf course and appreciated par. But, um, obviously in order to have a great career out here, you got to make a lot of birdies. And, um, it’s been fun the last month or so to feel like I’m putting together some good iron play and good enough putting to make a lot of birdies. And it, uh, it feels like you’re kind of on the attack all the way through. And, uh, speaking of mindset, uh, talk a little bit about the next two rounds over at Seaside. Yeah. Um, I have a lot of great memories here. It’s uh this is a special event. Um I’ve had a lot of good chances over the weekends here at at Sea Island and uh just a spectacular place. A great way to cap off the year. Um everyone’s got stuff to play for. I’m not fighting for my job. So hopefully I can use that to my advantage. But um more than that, it’s just uh yeah, trying to put one good shot one after another and and see what they add up to at the end. Yeah. So with your current position, you’d be projected into the A on Next 10. What would that mean to be able to play those signature events next year? Yeah, the AON Next 10 is an important category. I played out of that category this past season and played well early in the signature events at the especially at the Genesis Invitational and I s really saw the benefit of that going into kind of the rest of the year. I was able to play my way into a lot lot more quality starts. So, um as a competitor, I want to play the best events, the top tier, you know, schedule on the PGA Tour and and those are vitally important. Um, it’s like I said, as a competitor, I want to play against the best players and so that’s that’s what I’m here for. That’s the objective and uh hopefully I can add a trophy along the way. Awesome. Thank you. All right. Good. Thanks, sir. Thank you.
