I’ve been looking around for an economical garage heater option. As much as I’d love a mini split, it’s not in the cards. I also live in a fairly mild location in western Canada where -10C would be a cold day.

Anyway, I pulled the trigger on this IR heater for $130 (Amazon Black Friday sale). I’ve got it mounted behind the projector on a swivel. I can tilt it toward the hitting area or back toward the viewing area. I’m standing about 6’ back and can feel the heat.

We’ll see how it goes, but so far I believe this is an effective and cheap solution.

Nice idea, cool mounted spot. If you are working towards a mini split, you can save a ton if you install one yourself. I’m not handy and was able to do two non Mr. Cool mini splits, one was $800 for my bedroom and the larger and better heating capacity one for my garage was $1500

Thanks for sharing! I’m looking at heating options as well. Don’t want to spend thousands on an electric heater so I’m resigned to lower power options but most of them won’t keep up with the really cold Alberta days

I have a similar one in my garage. Not insulated and in Ontario. It’s helped a lot other than crazy cold days. I’ve played when it was -5 out but that was about the lowest I could go. I’m find my hands would get cold and sometimes I putt with mitts on. I added another radiant heater but it’s a tower and will basically be used for whoever isn’t hitting. When I’m playing by myself, I’ll see if I can use it to play in when it’s -6 or worse. It’s obviously not as good as a mini split and insulated garage but it does the job on most days and it’s pretty inexpensive and running both at the same time costs about $1 an hour on my hydro bill.

This was an option I considered a couple years ago, but I went with the reliable Big Buddy heater and 20lb propane tanks. It’s like $14 to completely fill a tank, and one of them will last about a month of 1 hour of golf every day.
