Does he “pick it up and turn the shoulders” or does he take the club away “low and slow”?

The arms lift in every single pro swing. His lift a lot and early, so it’s noticeable. Other guys blend it with the turn more evenly, like an Adam Scott.

Low and slow is a great way to get thr hands and arms working low and across yourself which is not what you want.

Here’s a video. You can see how much he picks up the club early compared to “traditional.”

This allows you to then lower it on the downswing

Every pro lifts the hands and club up over the trail shoulder. The torso turns while this happens which gives the effect that the club is being swing across their body. It moves across but only to the trail side of the torso, not as much as people think.

He has almost no hip turn on his backswing, but absolutely massive shoulder turn. Hands get high and not very far back from the ball, but because his shoulder turn is so massive hes able to hold his shoulders closed, rotate the body, and plane the club well, even if his swing is a bit steep. Only way to explain it imo is that hes extremely flexible and has probably been doing this move since he was a kid, so probably 60 years or so

Takeaway/backswing of an amateur, downswing/follow thru of an elite pro.
