Tiger Woods is, without question, one of the best golfers the game has seen, but Scottie Scheffler has matched Woods in one category, and he didn’t have to move from his couch.
Scheffler, a 19-time PGA Tour winner in his career including four major championships plus an Olympic gold medal, matched Woods with an incredible statistic for the 2025 season. As the RSM Classic comes to a close, with some retaining their tour cards and others left heartbroken, the stat sheets have been confirmed with Scheffler matching a significant Woods scoring achievement.
Scheffler, once again, had the PGA Tour’s best scoring average in 2025. The 29-year old led in many categories including strokes gained, total and tee-to-green, but most remarkably matched Woods by leading in scoring average for all four days of play over the course of the season.

Scheffler led the PGA Tour in rounds one, two, three and four in scoring over the course of the 2025 season. The last player to do that was Woods in 2000.
Scheffler averaged 67.45 in the first round, 68.00 in the second, 68.40 in the third and 68.10 in the final round. His overall scoring average was nearly a full shot better than Rory McIlroy, too. Scheffler has done an incredible job of brushing off comparisons to Wood’s in the past, but now he’s moving up on the stat sheet.
“I think in the simplest form, I think it’s very silly to be compared to Tiger Woods,” Scheffler said when asked about it at the Tour Championship in August.

“I think Tiger is a guy that stands alone in the game of golf, and I think he always will. Tiger inspired a whole generation of golfers. You’ve grown up watching that guy do what he did week in, week out. It was pretty amazing to see.”
Despite thinking the comparisons are a joke, Scheffler still looks to take the likes of Woods’ demeanor and mannerisms on the course.

“My biggest takeaway from playing with Tiger was the amount of intensity that he took to every shot, and that’s something I’ve talked to a lot of guys about,” Scheffler said at the Tour Championship after he and Woods played together at the 2020 Masters.
“We’re in 20th place or whatever going into Sunday at the Masters, Tiger has won five Masters, he’s got no chance of winning the tournament,” Scheffler said. “Then we showed up on the first hole and I was watching him read his putt, and I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, this guy is in it right now.’”
