Richmond Golf Club marked its annual presentation evening on Friday, celebrating a successful year of competitions and officially welcoming its new captains for 2026.
Claire Bateman has taken over as the new Ladies’ Captain.
She paid tribute to outgoing captain Mary Pettit, saying: “I’m delighted and proud to take on this role, following on from Mary Pettit, who has had a great year in office. I’m really looking forward to my year and to meet and greet many of our members both on and off the course.”
Her chosen charity for the year is 4louis, which supports families through miscarriage, stillbirth and child loss.

The new Gents’ Captain, Ivan Rookes, also thanked his predecessor, Brook Watson.
“I’m really looking forward to my year and will join Claire in what I’m sure will be another great year at Richmond Golf Club. Thanks to Brook Watson as the outgoing Gent’s Captain who has done so much for the Club.”
His nominated charity for 2026 is Middlesbrough MS Therapy.
The evening was well attended, with trophies presented to winners and runners-up across the Juniors, Ladies, Gents and Mixed competitions held throughout the year.
The 2025 Club Champions (gross scores) were announced as Karen Jobling for the Ladies and Ryan Howe for the Gents.
