John McEneaney (20) and Peter McCaughey (17) shot the best scores in the 14 Hole Singles Stableford competition, which was played over the weekend of November 15 and 16 at Dundalk Golf Club.

Both were playing in Division 4 with McEneaney taking the divisional honours on the final round countback, the last hole, after the pair had matched each other on the last nine, last six and last three holes.

They shot 35pts with McEneaney’s score on the 18th one shot better than McCaughey’s and enough to give him the bragging rights.

The competition was played over the 14-hole B course, which meant that the third, fourth, 15th and 16th holes were not used.

Dennis Cunningham won Division 1 with 34pts, which was one better than Barry Grennan (8), while Peter Cunningham (12) also had a one-point winning margin in Division 2 as he edged out Gerry O’Keeffe (11). Alan Joynt (13) shot 33pts to win Division 3 and had one shot to spare over Eamon Kelly (15).

The Winter League, sponsored by Precision Cables, starts this weekend with entries being accepted up until this Friday, November 28. There is a €5 entry fee, and envelopes and a box are located on the bar in the clubhouse.

The League will take place over six weekends and run into early February, with breaks for team events over this period. Teams will be picked based on an even spread of handicaps.

Due to heavy demand on the timesheet, it has been agreed that the player can play and enter the weekend competition and the Winter League on a Friday for a trial period over the winter 14-hole season.

Players must enter the Pro Shop prior to commencing their round and need a Golf Ireland member to sign their card.
