So I just shot an 83. Previous best was 88 (last spring, and last week). Driver was in bounds, putted and chipped really well, stuck a few apoach shots, only took 3 penalty strokes. My only triple of the day was on 18.

Really excited and surprised.

Should I get for for some irons, or get lessons?

    Why not get both?

Life is short and golf is fun (some of the time).

Just keep playing more. The money it costs for a fitting or lessons, just pour that into tee times. People on this sub might disagree, but most of us derive enjoyment from just getting out to play so I’d spend money on that.

I did that once many years ago, never done it again. You just never know???

Lessons to dial in your swing, then fitting to maximize the use of your swing, then lessons on the new clubs to bring it all together.

Spending the same amount of money on lessons generally will do more for your game than buying new clubs, unless your clubs are very misfit.

  5. I feel like now is not the time to get a lesson. Keep what’s working for a while don’t mess with your current swing. Wait until it starts going sideways imo.

Fitting? Sure. Any excuse to buy new clubs is a good excuse imo 😂 and it’s good to pick them out when you’re hitting well

You’re now flirting with a sub-10 HCP and breaking 80. Keep at it!

No, don’t mess up the flow like I did. Definitely get used to it and then make changes if you need

“I just played the best game of my life! Which part of my game should I screw with first so that I can go back to shooting triple digits?!”

  9. Reddit loves recommending fitting, but especially for irons I don’t think it’s that important. If you want to improve, lessons with a good PGA professional and dedicated practice are by far your best bet

Im not sure how much improvement fitting actually provides and it’s not really needed to get better, lessons are the way for sure. However, I am getting fitted for the first time next week because I’m finally getting new clubs after 15 years. Got to a + handicap with my game improvement irons though lol.

Always lessons cuz a decent instructor can also help you with your clubs.

    Both.. but..
Fitted = short term improvement with a ceiling..
Lessons = long term incremental progress..
