Yas Links Abu Dhabi has been recognised by the European Tour Group at the Sustainability Awards in the ‘venue’ category for its outstanding work as host of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
The award highlights the club’s long term commitment to environmental care, community engagement, and responsible resource management – delivered while staging one of the region’s most prominent sporting events with full GEO Certified status.
The club’s sustainability work focuses on the priorities that matter most for a coastal golf venue in the UAE, beginning with responsible water use. Managed by Viya, Yas Links irrigates all maintained turf with treated sewage effluent, and has reduced overall consumption by 20% through audits, technology upgrades, and team training. The surrounding environment is equally protected, with more than 30 hectares of mangroves and restored dunes safeguarded through buffer zones and ongoing habitat management that supports native plants and wildlife.
Energy efficiency is another core area of progress, with solar powered hot water, LED lighting across key facilities, and a full fleet of electric carts replacing petrol models. The club has also eliminated single use plastic bottles and strengthened its recycling and waste management systems to further reduce its environmental footprint.
