I’ve been playing golf for roughly 5 years. I’ve gotten more serious about playing within the past year. Picked up my first “new” set of irons on Callaway preowned about 7 months ago based on what I think would work for me (dropped my score 8-12 strokes from my hand me down Warriors). I’ve been swinging my dad’s old TaylorMade M2 since he upgraded a long time ago. I know this driver is very well respected, even today. However it had definetly seen better days. I’d never been fitted for anything and I knew a driver fitting would be well worth it. While Black Friday deals are out I thought now is a good a time as any to pick one up.

Fast forward to the fitting. I made an appointment at my local golf shop. It’s not small, but not huge. They have a pretty good selection of all the major brands on the shelf, bags, used clubs ect. I walked in today and a younger guy greets me. I hadn’t seen him around there much so I was skeptical. He was nice, but didn’t give much feedback on spin, launch angle ect. He was basically a sim caddy, but I still tipped him in the end.

I specifically wanted to know if I needed to swing stiff or extra stiff, and what shaft would play best for me. I said I wasn’t so concerned with driver heads but wanted to try the g440, Elyte, and GT2. I didn’t ask about a QI35 because everything I’d seen said they’re a little more spiny than everyone else.

First he got me into a few different shafts, I liked the tensai 1k black a lot. From there I went back and forth hitting the 3 aforementioned heads and liked the g440 LS the most. Something in me asked him to try the QI35 just to feel it. He grabbed me the LS in 9 degrees with the stock Kai’li white. I liked this shaft more than the tensai, but when I saw what my numbers were I was BLOWN AWAY.

I swung the g440, Elyte and the GT2 between 110 and 112 with a 280-295 carry depending on the shot. But the QI35 I was swinging 119-121 with a max of 311 yard carry. I shit my pants. I’ve never seen my swing speed so high. Not only that, I was more consistent with it than any other driver.

Needless to say I’m really happy I booked a fitting. I don’t know if anyone else has experienced something similar, but I’m more confident than ever in my driver than ever before.

TLDR; Had a hand me down M2, settled on a QI35 after I saw a 8-10 MPH increase in swing speed, 10-15 yards more carry and more consistency than ever before.

I’m very skeptical that the swing speed can go up 10mph. Lots of people are getting fit into the Qi35 these days.

Not saying machine is wrong, but 9-10 mph swing speed difference is not realistically possible unless you were swinging differently (which could be the case based on the confidence it gave you, etc).

Also don’t want to burst your bubble, but any sane fitter would automatically push you towards XS or TX if you are swinging at ~120 swing speed. My guess is some things were off (not sure if i would trust this fitter).

Swing 7 mph quicker is insane with just a different club. Were the ball speeds the same? And why would he fit you into a club that’s going to be obsolete in a week

I think you would expect further than 10-15 yards id you increase your club head speed went up 8-10’mph.
