Cleveland CBZ vs CBX4 Wedges
https://ebay.us/m/2Qs19l
This is the Cleveland CBX4. And then this is the slightly newer version in the CBZ. [Music] Now, the main thing here with these wedges is that they have a bigger cavity than other wedges to give more help, to give more forgiveness. There’s more mass on the outside of the club. There’s more width in the sole. So, the mass on the outside of the club will reduce how much that club twists on an offc center hit. The wider sole gives us more surface area to interact with the turf. So, if you dig into the floor quite a lot, it just helps it stop from getting stuck in there. Helps it glide through the turf a little bit easier. That’s the theory. Anyway, I’m going to hit these left-handed to see what the difference is and talk about why you might buy the CBZ over the CBX4. Cuz at the minute, you can get the CBX4 at a lower price, but there are some drawbacks of that. If you get one just to fill a big gap in the golf bag and then later on you want to replace it, they might all be gone. If you get the CBZ, chances are they’re going to have all the lofts that you want for the next two years or year and a half maybe. There’s a slight difference in the sole designs. We’ve got the same sort of idea on the CBX, but the CBZ is just looking that little bit sharper. We’ve got a little bit more definition there in the sole of the club, a little bit more rounded in the CBX. Cavity-wise, we’re looking quite similar. Although, I just prefer the cleaner look of the CBZ. I’ve already hit some CBZs on here because I’ve just done a video against the RTZ. I’m going left-handed because I don’t need as much forgiveness right-handed and left-handed exposes problems or solutions. So, this is the CBX4. We’ve got the same stock shaft in the way of the KBS Highv 2.0 in a 115, even though it just went blurry. So, they haven’t updated the standard shaft that you’ll find off the shelf, but there are, of course, shafts available. Lovely. I’ll take that. And am I going to see an increase in spin or anything like that? It does, having already hit the CBZ, it does feel a little bit harder going back to the X. And I think the materials in the CBZ are supposed to be 20% softer to give you that slightly softer feel through the ball. And I have to say, I do think that is quite noticeable. And I’m going to catch a few of these slightly heavy. I’m going to hit them in funny places in the face because I’m not left-handed. I’ve just got a little bit of backspin on there with last year’s model. So, it is possible to spin these bad boys back. Possible. Not guaranteed. That was 9,000 spin. That was quite good. towy. Thin and towy. That’s what I love about these things. Side note, there is one factor in getting backspin that is very important, and that is the golf ball itself. I’m using a yellow Shrixen Zstar. The Zed Stars and the premium balls do spin more than your 80s, your Shrixen distances, and your lower cost golf balls. So, if you’re trying to get backspin with a Shrixen distance, you’re going to struggle. But then there’s always that trade-off for price. Like if you lose a lot of golf balls, you don’t want to spend too much on them. Lovely. At least get a decent set of wedges. Nice. So, yeah. So far, this does just feel slightly more clicky than the CBZ. Oh, there it is. There’s that toe slap. And we just missed the green. Fine. Definitely not going to give myself a hard time over miss strikes. It’s the nature of the beast. Couple of strikes with the new one just to give us a little feel for it. Does it straight away feel softer? Yes, it does. That was a groove low. So, I’ve caught it slightly thin. It’s going to have more spin. It’s going to not carry as far, but it is a slightly softer, smoother feedback from the club face, especially when you drop kick toe it. I’m not going to complain about that. That was such a bad strike. Oh no, I’m on the green. Either way, I’m quite enjoying myself this way round with either wedge. I just want to hit one, maybe two more with the CBX4 just in case it was my ability to get through the ball because the distances aren’t quite as healthy. H could be something in that head. I mean, this ball striking is what we’re working with. We can see strikes all over the face, which is exactly what this wedge or these wedges are designed to help. There it is. It’s a swing thing, not necessarily a club thing. Tidy, jump in the comments if you think I should do some golf lessons left-handed. Little weird drop kicky. Uh because left-handed, I’m not as good. I’m not as consistent. And it might be interesting to explore some of the concepts I’ve had in other coaching videos while I’m left-handed because I was hitting some drawers the other day left-handed using my sternum concept in an area that I’m less able and it worked really well. So do jump in if you want to see that. No, lovely. Go on. Get in the hole. Get in the hole. Oh, missed. So I am seeing a decent grouping there. The white one is the CBZ. blue one is the CBX4. To be fair, I would put a lot of it down to my ability to strike a golf ball more so than the club itself. I think I got a few more of the CBX’s thin and low on the face. So, CBX is the older one with more spin, less speed. There’s going to be some of that that comes from the technology in the face and the technology in the head, but my strike locations were lower in the CBX. So, I’m not going to go, “Oh my god, they’re miles different.” We have seen some differences there, but I’ve got lots of variations in my ball striking this way round. So, if you want to see it right-handed, jump in the comments because I’m going to be more consistent through the ball doing that. This just gives an idea of how forgiving these clubs are with the same shaft in them as well. I’m quite impressed with both of them, but I do really like the CBZ. It’s it feels nice and it’s been very consistent in all the shots I’ve hit so far. I just haven’t hit them right-handed.

Any chance you are gonna review the new Callaway UW ?
And keep it going
Always lots of tests here, that you dont see on other review sites 🙂
…..lefty swing 👀⛳️💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Love my cbx4’s. Is it worth the upgrade for more accuracy maybe?
I reckon you’d still beat me as a lefty 😂😂
Nice work mate. Clubs4Cash with have all the lofts of either club so the cheaper option still makes sense
Yes please !!! Lefty lessons for us lefty’s 😎
Guess you just had a lesson eh? Good stuff Freddie!
Timely video, been thinking about buying some new wedges
Man I just bought a cbx4. Are they similar to mix and match?
Would love to see a CBZ vs Callaway's updated CB12!!
More leftie content please. Great video – went to get CBX4 50 & 56 degree LH but out of stock until CBZ arrives – may be next month.. 🙁
Love the look of the cbz wedges but I’ll stick with my cbx’s. The cbz’s here in Australia are $300, not selling many at that price I think.
