💊 Competing through pain with anti-inflammatories and pain relievers
⏳ Why this injury can take up to six months to fully heal
💥 The exact swing that caused the injury — and why he instantly knew something broke
🏋️♀️ How gym work (without using his hands) kept him competitive during the layoff
🔄 Why returning now prevents a four-month break before 2026

Doing all right? Yeah. How are you doing? Good. Good. Ready. Daniel, after having all this time off with the broken finger, how would you kind of assess the first couple days of play? Um, I remember this course being a little more challenging. I know last year it blew and the greens were firm and then obviously the conditions are not quite that this week. So, um, I actually think for myself it was kind of nice to not get thrown into something crazy. I know I’ve only played four or five rounds of golf in the three months that I had off. really the last two weeks was really the only time that I’ve started hit balls. So, I just didn’t want to take four months off before the start of the year. And so, overall excited to be back playing to feel pretty good and uh you know, have a couple more days to play some golf. How’s the pain been so far? Um I’m on a strong dosage of anti-inflammatories and some pain relievers, but honestly, I think it’s just part of the process and it’s one of those injuries um that can take up to six months from what I understand to really feel perfect. And um I know I’m not doing any damage. is just kind of managing it and it just, you know, having just come off of something, you know, a year and a half ago to then have this happen, you know, obviously the best time for it to happen, having this ability to take the time off that I needed to take, but um excited to get, you know, going in 26 and uh feel good so far. Do you because I saw like the video that was kind of posted on Twitter, was it the bunker shot that happened? No, it was the shot before that. Yeah, the shot before that. Yeah, I knew immediately when I hit it that I either broke my wrist or broke my finger, but uh but luckily it was just my finger and unfortunately these things just take a while to heal. What has the time off been like for for Dana Burger? I’ve been in the gym every day just not using my hands. So, you know, I think that’s probably why I was able to come back and still be, you know, somewhat competitive. You know, usually when you take three months off, it can be it can be tough just to get back into the swing of things, but I feel like it’s been pretty quick um in terms of feeling like myself. And the more rounds I play, the better I’ll feel. And you know, like I said, two more rounds here and then I’ll play the Grand Thornton in a couple weeks and hopefully I’ll be ready to go by January. Thanks, Daniel. Every chef
