The second round is in the books and the 36-hole cut has been made at the 2025 RSM Classic, otherwise known as the “last chance saloon.” It’s the last chance to get a win this year, the last chance to make a cut and therefore enjoy a payday, and the last chance for those not already exempt in 2026 to get in (or stay in) the top 100 for a PGA Tour card next year.

A total of 73 players will see the weekend at Sea Island Golf Club on St. Simons Island in Georgia, with the cut coming in at 7 under. The leader is Andrew Novak, who fired rounds of 61 and 65 on the first two days to enter the weekend at 16 under, one shot clear of a tie for second between Patrick Rodgers and Michael Thorbjornsen.

With every player having finished their second round, the 36-hole cut has been made at the RSM Classic. The official cut line came in at 7 under.

Beau Hossler made the cut on the number. He came into the week at 103rd in the FedEx Cup Fall standings, in need of a really good outing to secure his card for next season. The made cut is nice, but he’ll likely need a high finish Sunday to crack the top 100.

“It’s always nerve-racking to try and make a cut, but just knowing that there’s so much more needed… Just trying to get the most I can today and hopefully build on it this weekend.”

Sam Ryder is in the same boat. He entered the week No. 120 in the standings and made the cut at 7 under.

“[I feel] relief… it doesn’t really mean that much other than I’ll probably be playing a couple more rounds this season,” Ryder said. “But just this game, it just gets — there’s a lot of emotions and there’s a lot of ups and downs. So at that point you’re just kind of like, you’re just trying to focus on the task at hand really. I think after the fact you kind of start to really think about, all right, well, reset my goals for the weekend. I don’t know what’s going to happen for the remainder of the season where the numbers fall, but it was obviously important for me to make the cut.”

Andrew Novak fired a 7-under 65 Friday at the Sea Island Plantation Course to follow up his 9-under 61 that came Thursday on the Seaside Course. After starting on No. 10, Novak had a blistering stretch of six straight birdies on holes 15-18 and holes 1-2. A pair of bogeys at the seventh and ninth set him back a bit, but he’ll still sleep on the solo lead Friday night.

“I thought I drove it well again today, gave myself a lot of opportunities with some shorter irons in and wedges in and really took advantage,” Novak said. “There was a lot of close wedge shots where they weren’t necessarily gimmees but very, very good opportunities with the putter and kind of got in a rhythm with that and maximized some opportunities in the middle of the round.”

Novak, who lives in St. Simons, doesn’t have to worry one bit about keeping his card (which could be why he’s playing so well). He finished the 2025 regular season at 25th in the FedEx Cup standings, thanks in large part to his maiden victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans back in April, a team event which he won with partner Ben Griffin. But while he isn’t feeling the stress this year, he’s been there before. Two seasons ago, he entered the Sea Island squarely on the bubble and in need of a good performance to keep his card.

“It was awful. I think they made a video of it or something. All I had to do was make the cut to keep my card and I was looking safe, hit a ball in a tree and it got stuck in a tree on the last hole and I had to come back. I birdied my second ball basically to make the cut on the number.

“That was about as stressed as I’ve been on a golf course maybe ever. My whole year was riding on that hole. So I’m very familiar with the amount of pressure that some of the guys are playing with this week and I’m very blessed to not have that pressure right now while I’m playing.”

Novak will tee off at 11 a.m. ET Saturday in the final group with Michael Thorbjornsen and Patrick Rodgers, who are tied for second at 15 under, one shot behind Novak.

Checking in on the datagolf projected cut for the 2025 RSM Classic as of 2:45 p.m. ET, 7 under has a better than 99 percent chance of being the number. That would be the lowest cut all season (Rocket Classic, 6 under) on the PGA Tour.

Novak started on No. 10 on the Plantation Course and closed his first nine in a flurry, making four birdies in a row. He’ll make the turn in 31 and got it to 14 under, good for a three-shot lead over Doug Ghim and Andrew Putnam. Novak then birdied the first and second to make it six birdies in a row and a four-shot lead.

After shooting a 60 on Thursday, Ghim has taken the solo lead, breaking a three-way tie, after getting it to 11 under. Ghim needed a big week at the RSM and so far, he’s delivering.
