Here’s everything you need to know as captains and general managers start to work on the rosters for their LIV Golf teams for 2026…

JUMP TO: LIV Golf teams for 2026

The LIV Golf transfer window has officially opened – meaning teams can now trade or sign players ahead of the 2026 season.

Before we get into the details, a quick reminder of how it works…

How did it all end in 2025?

Lock Zone: The top 24 players in the 2025 LIV Golf standings have been automatically offered a contract for 2026 with their current team. Should he choose to decline, he will become a free agent and can be signed by another team.

Open Zone: Those who finished from 25th to 48th will can be re-signed by their teams if they are out of contract or continue competing for the franchise they are attached to if their existing deal includes the 2026 season. They can also be traded from one team to another or be released if their contract has expired.

Drop Zone: The players who finished 49th or below have been relegated from the league. They remain eligible to return to the league via LIV Golf Promotions or the International Series – but more on those later.

Any players who finished in the Lock Zone but have declined the automatic contract extension with their current team will become a free agent, as will any players in the Open Zone whose contracts have expired.

The means team captains and GMs can add to their roster in one of the following ways:

Signing a free agent

Signing a player contracted to another team

Agreeing to trade contracted players – with the other team’s approval

Recruiting players not contracted to LIV Golf

Signing a player who qualifies via the LIV Golf Promotions event or the International Series

Speaking of which…

How can a player earn a LIV Golf contract?

In a bit of breaking news, the top two players in this year’s International Series Rankings will be offered a spot on LIV Golf next year.

Previously, only one player from the Asian Tour’s season-long standings earned a place.

With two events remaining – the Moutai Singapore Open and the PIF Saudi International – the two spots are currently occupied by Scott Vincent and Miguel Tabuena. Zimbabwean Vincent has already played three seasons on LIV Golf – with Torque GC in 2022 and then the Iron Heads in ’23 and ’24 before being relegated.

“The extra spot is a phenomenal opportunity for our members to rise to one of the pinnacle platforms in our game and there is no doubt that the top two positions will be fiercely contested over the next two events,” Cho Minn Thant, the Asian Tour’s commissioner and CEO, said.

Rahul Singh, head of The International Series, added that it is “a real life-changing opportunity for the players to grasp”.

Meanwhile, there will also be another LIV Golf Promotions tournament ahead of the new season.

Taking place at Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Florida, from January 8-11, LIV Golf Promotions will be four rounds of stroke play with the top two finishes being handed a spot in the 54-man league in 2026. The top 10, including ties, will also earn full exemption for the Asian Tour’s International Series.

As it did last time out, there will also be a $1.5 million purse, with $200,000 reserved for the winner.

Last year, 93 players competed for one spot in the 2025 LIV Golf season. It was won by Chieh-po Lee of Chinese Taipei, who competed as one of the two wildcards and finished in the Open Zone.

2026 LIV Golf teams

Let’s break it down on a team-by-team basis…

4Aces GC

After ending his season at the PIF Saudi International, Dustin Johnson confirmed that he will be returning to LIV Golf for the 2026 season.

“I am the captain of 4Aces,” he told Flushing It after missing the cut at Riyadh Golf Club.

Dustin Johnson has just ended a season without a win for the first time since 2014.

When asked if there will be any changes to his roster, the two-time major champion replied: “No, my team is staying the same.”

Johnson’s 4Aces won the inaugural Team Championship in 2022, and have since finished 4th, 2nd and 7th in the season-long standings.

2026 roster: Dustin Johnson (c), Thomas Pieters, Patrick Reed, Harold Varner III

Cleeks Golf Club

The first major signing of the 2026 offseason was by the Cleeks, who snapped up three-time DP World Tour winner Victor Perez.

The Frenchman replaces relegated Frederik Kjettrup in the lineup.

2026 roster: Martin Kaymer (c), Richard Bland, Adrian Meronk, Victor Perez

Crushers GC

While there is no news from the Crushers camp just yet, LIV Golf have registered the trademark for a new team called Southern Balindi, which suggests Anirban Lahiri may be on the move in the near future.

2026 roster: Bryson DeChambeau, Paul Casey, Charles Howell III, Anirban Lahiri

Fireballs GC

Another trademark registered by LIV Golf in recent weeks is ‘Real Club de Toros GC’, which is generally accepted to be the new name for Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs.

2026 roster: Sergio Garcia (c), Abraham Ancer, Josele Ballester, David Puig

Hyflyers GC

Andy Ogletree finished in the Drop Zone in 2025, but a replacement is yet to be announced.

2026 roster: Phil Mickelson (c), Brendan Steele, Cameron Tringale, TBC

Iron Heads GC

Yubin Jang finished in the Drop Zone in 2025, but a replacement is yet to be announced.

2026 roster: Kevin Na, Danny Lee, Jinichiro Kozuma, TBC

Legion XIII

After winning the 2025 Team Championship, the Legion XIII roster is not expected to change.

2026 roster: Jon Rahm (c), Tyrrell Hatton, Tom McKibbin, Caleb Surratt

Majesticks GC

With Henrik Stenson being relegated in the 2025 season, it throws up a huge dilemma for the Majesticks as the Swede is a co-captain and co-owner. The DP World Tour confirmed to TG that Stenson has re-applied for membership as a back-up plan – but this is certainly the story to keep an eye on here.

Henrik Stenson shares Majesticks captaincy duties with Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood.

One potential signing would have been Marco Penge, but the Englishman has already put an end to that possibility.

2026 roster: Ian Poulter (c), Lee Westwood (c), Sam Horsfield, TBC

RangeGoats GC

There is no news coming out of the RangeGoats camp.

2026 roster: Bubba Watson (c), Ben Campbell, Peter Uihlein, Matt Wolff

Ripper GC

With Min Woo Lee emphatically shutting down rumors that he is joining LIV Golf, the all-Australian Ripper GC is expected to remain unchanged.

2026 roster: Cameron Smith (c), Lucas Herbert, Matt Jones, Marc Leishman

Smash GC

It looks like Smash GC will remain unchanged after Graeme McDowell confirmed he is staying.

The former US Open champ finished 34th in the 2025 standings, just three places behind his captain Brooks Koepka, in an up-and-down year that saw him almost get his first LIV Golf victory before being edged by Joaquin Niemann.

Graeme McDowell has targeted a return to the European Ryder Cup team in 2027.

Speaking to Bunkered at the Link Hong Kong Open, where he missed the cut by a single shot, McDowell confirmed he would be staying on with Smash for another year.

“Obviously I felt like I played okay this season and certainly held my own,” he explained. “Certainly lots of room for improvement, more consistency.

“But I’m 46, I’ll be 47 next year, I still feel competitive. When I’m not competitive anymore, I’ll walk away and give somebody else that spot. At the minute, I still feel like I’m good enough to be out there and good enough to be out on any tour.”

2026 roster: Brooks Koepka (c), Talor Gooch, Jason Kokrak, Graeme McDowell

Stinger GC

Stinger’s South African lineup is expected to remain the same.

2026 roster: Louis Oosthuizen (c), Dean Burmester, Branden Grace, Charl Schwartzel

Torque GC

Mito Pereira finished in the Drop Zone in 2025, but a replacement is yet to be announced.

2026 roster: Joaquin Niemann (c), Sebastian Munoz, Carlos Ortiz, TBC
