hero of high school at Bishop Lort, Pennsylvania. And Bo did a lot of training in the Penn State wrestling room. So, no doubt Bo Bartlett has felt Basset before in the wrestling room. But here we go. Bo versus Bo. 65 kilos. World Team Trials Challenge Tournament. Basset in the red. Bartlett in the blue. Basset a future Hawkeye. Bartlett recently finished his career at Penn [Applause] State, multiple time finalist. And now Bartlett taking ground. Single leg for Bartlett and he’s around the waist. Basset hasn’t conceded the points yet. Quad pod still hasn’t gone down. And the step out is what they rule. So, oh, Basset. First point for Basset. Okay. Bartlet stepped [Applause] out. So, good defense. The Basset Bartlett bow contest. I think uh I saw someone say the winner gets to decide how bow is spelled. I don’t think the other guy is gonna change the spelling of his name, but maybe you get, you know, a little bracket right on that one. [Applause] All right, Basset right off the whistle caught by Bartlett in a front headlock. Barlet deceptively strong, very quick, and just wrenching on that head and arm bassets, but still made it back to [Applause] neutral. And it’s going to be real Woods it looks like on the other mat. So Woods at Mendes. Winner of this bout gets the winner of Seth Gross and Brock Hardy. Those are the guys walking on the mat one right now. All right, we’re over halfway through the first period. Still just one zero for Basset. Bartlet had that nice uh attack and had Basset in quadpod defense, but then it was Bartlett who steps out first. I think we’re going to get a passivity soon. Yes, we will. That’s on Basset. [Applause] Hand fighting continues. Basset not backing down from this challenge. [Music] Didn’t win U20s at the open, but still make the team. Came back for third. now trying to make the senior team. It’s possible. Under 30 to go. Still just a one-point lead. Probably see Basset go on the clock in the second period. [Applause] If uh time continues without any more scores, And we go to the break. 30 seconds. [Music] [Applause] Bose’s dad or Basset’s dad, Bill Basset in his corner. Nick Lee, and Coach Sanderson. Action underway. Bartlet vers Bassid. And it’s Basset in on a single leg. Bo uh Bartlett. Got to do better than just calling him Bo. Bartlett sits the corner. He’s locked around the crotch, but Basset sinking back. Looks like he’s just going to try to get a stalemate out of this. And he does. He’s also trying to avoid getting put on the clock [Music] as the hand fight really picks up now. It’s getting ferocious in there head-to-head. [Applause] Basset starting to take a little bit more ground from Bartlett. See Bartlett on his heels. Basset looking for an opening and it’s going to be Bartlett. Wasn’t controlling the center enough. And now both guys have a passivity warning. [Applause] Now Bartlett on the attack, but Bo hand fights his way to front headlock and then gives that up [Applause] [Music] snap. And Bartlett got an eye poke. Just incredible to think high schooler with the amount of power to snap down an opponent like Bartley. [Applause] but not an average high schooler by any stretch. [Applause] And fighting continues again. 90 seconds left in this bout. It’s just the one-point lead for Bassid. And now I think Basset might get put on the clock. Whistle was looking for action. Red and now Basset trying to take some ground. Not a lot of time left to put anybody on an activity clock. [Applause] Now we’re under a minute. [Applause] ready to restart there. Judge looked like they were asking for blue passivity that got white paddled. So just going to let him figure this out on the mat now. One zero. Basset leads. Any score, any point whatsoever will give Bartlett the lead, but Basset of course will have his say. Under 30 seconds. Who’s got more in the tank? They’re going to start their sprint here. [Music] Bartlett eyeing up Basset. Bartlet looking for his opportunity. He’s got 10 seconds. Basset looks at the clock. Barlet looks at the clock. He might not have known he was losing. He didn’t know. He didn’t know. You see the realization on Bartlett’s eyes. He thought maybe Bass had gone on the clock. I’m not sure. But one zero. That’s why I didn’t have that urgency in the final minute.

  1. In my opinion, this Bassett boy will not amount too much in college. He was able to beat up on high school boys, but he will not be able to do that with men. Don’t get me wrong. He is a hard wrestler and a hard worker. But that will not be enough. He just doesn’t have the style. The other guy got screwed in this match. That point should’ve been his. His coach not fighting this is the big crime in this match.

  2. Reminds me of Mesenbrink when he seemed to let off on the gas vs David Carr and seemed like he lost track of the score.

  3. That point is idiotic. If that is in the rules they need to change them. Great coaching Penn State. Way to let your wrestler down.

  4. Both Terry and Tom Brands are going to LOVE working w Bo Bassett in the years ahead with that brutal forward pressure and using conditioning as a weapon.

The future of TEAM USA and College Wrestling is bright!

  5. this is the future of wrestling? a step out? Garbage. Does the wrestling community think the average sports fan is going to like this?

  6. I wrestled Beau Bartlett in high school at the X Caliber tournament😭I went to watch his first match he tossed the kid and pinned him in 6 seconds 🤣I knew I was cooked lmao but I gave him a match.. 55 second match lol
