According to the organisers, the funds will be shared equally between Child Lifeline (Gbagada), which supports and reunites street-connected children, and the Nigerwives Braille Book Production Centre, which provides Braille books to schools across Nigeria.

Speaking during the event, the managing director of TotalEnergies Upstream Companies in Nigeria, Matthieu Bouyer, said the tournament represents a blend of sporting excitement and community impact.

“Today’s tournament is not just about fairways and scorecards; it’s about experiencing the thrill of a good game whilst embracing compassion, strengthening our community, and reaffirming our commitment to giving back,” Bouyer said.

Bouyer praised golf for its physical and mental benefits, adding that its camaraderie reflects the spirit of giving back.

“The greatest victories are won not only on the course but also in our hearts, when we choose to give generously to those who need it most,” he noted.

“This year, we proudly support Child Lifeline and the Braille Book Production Centre. The funds raised today are not just numbers; they’re lifelines, covering assistive devices, medications, therapy, counselling, and awareness campaigns,” Bouyer added.

Bouyer highlighted TotalEnergies’ wider support for sports in Nigeria, including sponsorship of AFCON, the National Men’s Division One & Two Basketball Leagues, the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games, and the OML 58 grassroots football tournament.
