Chandler Phillips just delivered one of the most honest, raw, and entertaining interviews of the entire FedExCup Fall.

After bogeying his opening hole, he fired a 7-under 64 — then sat down and told the truth about everything: the wind, the pressure, the standings… and even his engagement story in a dove field. 🕊️💍

Here’s what Chandler breaks down:

🔥 Why his 64 might be his best golf of the year — despite a bogey start.
💥 How he resets after mistakes: “You’ve got 17 holes left. There are birdies everywhere.”
🎯 His mentality at 139th in the FedExCup Fall: “I have ONE option… ball out or I’m not keeping my card.”
😅 The brutally honest confession: “I’m pretty over this year.”
🌪️ Why he loves playing in 25-mph winds — and why it separates the real players.
🎣 His 3-day commercial shoot featuring golf, hunting, fishing… and catching an 8-pound bass on his third cast.
💍 The wild, hilarious story behind his engagement: “She had NO clue… her reaction is unpostable.”

This is Chandler Phillips unfiltered — competitive, self-aware, funny, and absolutely clutch.

Especially good. No, you can you can just look this way at us and just come a little closer to the microphone. All right, Chandler. The old saying is uh many a good rounds start with a bogey. Yours did seven under 64 after bogeying your opening hole. Just how would you describe that round? Yeah, I mean it really and truly is one of those rounds like it just um you don’t realize how good you’re playing until you’re done and then it’s like oh okay yeah you know so uh but yeah no I mean it was really really good round. I mean yesterday was a good round too. I just had one bad swing and made double on two. Um and then today I you know 10 it was you know the second shot was straight down win and I just it’s first first shot of the day you know and um or I guess second but um just didn’t hit it hard enough and it spun kind of off the green and try to putt it up there and it’s these screens are just man they’re so slow you know and but I mean they have to be they have to be because of the and how hard it’s blowing. So, other than two yesterday and 10 today, I mean, it’s probably the best golf I’ve played all year. When you make that bogey on the first hole, how do you like reset yourself to to go out and do what you did afterwards? Yeah. I mean, well, the thing is is um you know, yeah, I made bogey, but at at the same time is like I I shot four under on the back yesterday, so there’s birdies to be made. Um, and there’s there’s actually a lot of downwind holes on the back. Um, so and then there and then some of them that are actually into the wind, they’re actually not that bad. Like you’re still hitting, you know, a wedge or something like that. But, um, you know, you just got to know that you got 17 holes left and there’s plenty of birdies as long as you hit, you know, decent shots. So I didn’t Same thing with yesterday with the u bad drive on two. I mean I was like I mean I make the cut I still got 70 holes left you know. So I mean it’s just it’s not it’s not really a reset. It’s just like you know it’s out of the way. It’s the pass. Can’t can’t really affect your round. You you came into this week 139th I think on first cup fall standings. Has that been on your mind with two tournaments left? No. No, because I only have one option and that’s to go out there and try to win because if I don’t, I’m I’m not keeping my card. And uh it’s just I mean obviously, yeah, I’ve thought about it, but there’s there’s no there’s not a lot of answers to it. It’s just one answer. is just go out there and try a ball out and, you know, if it happens, it happens. If not, you know, try to go fix what was wrong for the year, you know. And uh I’ve to tell you the truth, I’m I’m pretty over this year. Like it’s been it’s been a uh it’s been a struggle, but um I’m waiting for that finish line. You know, it’s really interesting you say that. um kind of over this year because we had Rafa Campos in earlier in the week and he went on and won the tournament and he said exactly the same thing. He said he pretty much resigned himself to the fact that he was done. Yeah. And uh it just it’s an interesting mindset that kind of almost frees you up to play. Yeah. I mean, like, it’s just you’re not thinking I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s just like you’re not you’re not thinking of, oh, you know, I I need a top 20 this week or I just need to make the cut. Well, I mean, that’s never a good mindset, you know, uh, even if you are in a really good position to keep your card or, you know, whatever. Um, I mean, you just you got to have the mindset try to win every week like and if you don’t you might as well not even show up you know I mean it’s just and it and I say I say this jokingly just because like it this year has just not been it you know you know miss and the amount of times I’ve missed the fairway this year by a yard and it’s just completely screwed me it’s it’s unbelievable and it’s not the course it’s just me, you know, aim a little bit further left or aim a little bit further right, you know? I I don’t know. But I mean, it’s just Can you tell I’m over it? Is it Is it hard to find a balance of having to just try to play good golf and not press too much in a tournament like this where you know what you have to do to try to keep your card? How do you how do you maintain that balance? Because if you press too hard, obviously, and especially out here with with wind and whatnot, you can make even a bigger mistake. Yeah. No, I mean, man, I tell you what, I I got up and down from 120 yards on number one today and I got up and down from 75 yards on number four today. And that was just because I was out of position. I didn’t try to force anything. I was just like, okay, if I make bogey, whatever. Um, but I ended up getting them up and down. And it’s just like I I I tell myself all the time to, you know, to do that, but you know, I see a window or, you know, I think I can hit a shot and then that’s when I get myself in like more trouble. So, um, so yeah, I mean, it’s I don’t I don’t feel like I am, I guess, a presser, I guess. I I don’t press too much. Um, I’m just one of those guys that’s just like I’m just going to take what the course gives me and if it’s good, it’s good. If it’s bad, you know what? Get me out of here. You know, it’s just kind of one of those things. But, um, but yeah, no, I I I don’t really feel myself pressing too much. I know that there’s a lot of guys out here that maybe won’t admit it, but when the wind’s blowing like it can out here, they they hate it. they kind of maybe mentally will check out a little bit or it can affect their game. You mentioned being a guy from Texas, you’ve grown up playing in the wind and know how much you can blow there from a similar spot. But yeah, is it a little bit of a golf sicko to appreciate when the wind’s blowing 25 and the gust can come up, but you’re just going to deal with it and you somewhat enjoy that? Hey, hey, if if that’s what it is, then I guess I’m that. You know, it’s just I like I was saying earlier is like we have there’s a lot of tournaments this year that we have literally been playing in a dome. Like there’s no win. It’s perfect, you know, and it’s just yes, you still have to hit the shots, you know, and everything like that. But I feel like it just gets so bunched up with the scores when it’s, you know, perfect conditions and everything like that. But when it starts blowing like this, well, it just kind of separates. I feel like separates a little bit just for guys that, you know, enjoy it. You know, I guess face the fact that it’s you’re not ever going to get out of the wind. So, you know, just take it, you know, do do what you can with it and, you know, roll with it. But um but yeah, I mean I I love playing in the wind. Like it’s I feel like it for me it’s easier to hit shots. Um and it’s just I don’t know. That’s just me. Just a couple more for me. We’ve seen you recently in a TV commercial. Um what was that experience like filming that? And um you know just can you share anything about Yeah, I mean it’s it’s awesome. I mean, Turtle Walks, um, I guess we’re going on two years, two, two, three, something like that. I don’t know. Um, I can’t remember, but yeah. No, that they’re great. I mean, um, a lot of Was it a like a dayong shoot or was it a Yeah. No. Well, it was a it was a three-day long shoot because we did golf, hunting, and fishing. So it was perfect for me. Like I was like I can go play golf one day. I can have two days off and go fishing or hunting, you know. And uh but yeah, no, it was great. Uh we went went out to the golf course, filmed for, you know, an hour or so, they got what they needed. And then the next day we we went out and went hunting. And that was more of kind of like the, you know, chill, relax, and they’ll just get what they can while we’re doing it. And then fishing was the same thing. And the fishing was crazy. Like at like my third cast, I caught like an eight pounder. So yeah, sweet. I was like, “All right, what do y’all want next?” You know, just a slightly different subject. Uh Seth Fagala was in here earlier this week and he just recently got engaged and he kind of walked us through that process and how it went. It was kind of entertaining. Yeah. I wonder you’re in the same situation. You just recent recently got engaged. Can you tell us any exciting uh interesting stories from that moment for you? No man. Uh yeah. Yeah, I can. Uh she she had always told me she was like um you know, you got to make sure there’s a photographer. You got to make sure there’s a my nails are done and this and that. And I’m just like, this girl has found out everything like throughout the six years we’ve been together. I’ve never gotten anything past her. She’s she knows everything. And I’m just like, this is gonna be the one thing you ain’t gonna have a damn clue it’s coming. So, we we actually uh we went down to her uncle’s place and we went dove hunting and I did it in a dove field. Sounds perfect. And she had no idea. It was perfect. Yeah. I mean, her mom videoed it, but we can’t video we can’t post a video because she is losing her mind and saying some things that can’t be posted on social media. Did that make you feel as good as shooting 64 today? Hey, you’re trying to get me in trouble, man. Or better. Yeah, right. But great stuff. I appreciate it. Thank you.
