It was wonderful to get out on the fairways on Thursday after all the rain. We had a good turn-out for our 14-hole stableford competition and it was very tight at the top with just one point separating the top six.

Well done to Margaret on topping the leaderboard and to Una and Beppi who were hot on her heels in second and third place. Congratulations also to Maisie on winning the nine-hole competition.

Rosslare Ladies

“That’s why the country is so green” we say, when visitors stare aghast at the driving rain. And we had lashings of it last week.

While the course was in terrific condition some thought it might be daft to play in a deluge… but who knows the intricate workings of the dedicated golfer’s mind?

Ten hardy players braved it out on the Burrow course on Sunday and Tuesday, November 9 and 11. First place went to Elaine O’Connor (17) with 29 points and second was Phil Keating (22) with 26 points. Well done, ladies!

On Saturday we were back to normal for the 14-hole open stableford competition on the main course. There were 23 players and the winner was Fiona Murphy (Milltown, 16) with 32 points. The runner-up was Vivian Dreelan (20) with 31 points. Congratulations to both.
