Yes, friends, it’s that time again. Frankpedaleur in Bangkok, though on the outskirts. So not right in the epicenter. Um, I was in Chiang Mai for a bit, but only as a tourist. And I was also in Pattaya, visiting a friend, all without my bike. Now I only have today; tomorrow I’m already heading back. My first ride on the penultimate day. But oh well, that’s how it goes. I also had my bike repaired a bit here. The transport by plane was free, so assembling it was the only work involved. So there were no costs, and yes, so today I’m just going to ride around Bangkok a bit. Today I’ve chosen a lake whose name I’ve already forgotten. I think it’s Nong Bon Lake or something like that . I’ll include it below. It’s definitely next to the park beside Rama IX Park, and yes, it’s quite a nice recreational area. There are two beautiful bridges that go completely over the lake. I’ll have a look. And yes, that will probably be my only ride. Maybe we should go back to the airport and the Happy Bike Lane so we can do a night ride sometime. I think my saddle just moved. The nose kind of slipped down. I need to tighten it. Right. And yes, I wanted to at least show you a little bit of Thailand. And that it wasn’t all for nothing lugging the bike around, but oh well. Sometimes plans change. So, now I have to turn left here, towards the lake, towards the park. Let’s see what this is. I already had a quick look yesterday. It looked quite nice. I think it’s good enough to show in a video. So, bpai genn loi. Let’s go. Yes, I just saw it. It’s called Nong Bon Lake. Yes , the guys here are always quite friendly. Even the security guards always have a smile on their faces. They greet you. So, Nong Bon Lake, turn right after 1100 meters. Yes, there we are. The entrance is over there. Now I have to bravely plunge across the street here. Not so easy. Especially since nobody stops here. If you don’t go into the street yourself, they won’t lift a finger. So, I think you even have to pay an entrance fee. I’ll have to take a look. Yes, there’s something there. Come on, the capo’s coming. Next entrance. Another one. Here no? Exit? Okay, thank you. So, this is the exit. We have to go one further to the entrance. Then we’ll do that. In Germany, they would have yelled at you. But here, they politely pointed it out. So, do I have to cross the street again , or can I ride on the sidewalk here? Come on, let’s do it on the sidewalk. So what? Thai style. Then I don’t have to cross the street again. Twice, once there, once back. So, let’s try this one. The farang. So, the foreigner definitely has to pay more than the Thais, as is always the case here. Ten baht. Sip baht. Okay. So, 10 baht, that’s fine. That’s 25 cents. There . And we’re already in. 25 cents entrance fee. Well, it’s a bit unusual to have to pay for the park, but it’s quite nice. It’s not much money, after all. Where I come from, it would probably cost €5, but we can afford that. Lumphini Park, for example, is free. You can just walk right in, or Benjakitti Park. Lumphini and Benjakitti are connected by a bridge, a pedestrian bridge, so you don’t have to fight your way through traffic. There’s a high bridge, you can just walk across it. Both are free, and that’s good, but this one costs money here. Although, yes, it’s on the outskirts of the city. So it probably doesn’t get that many visitors to make it worthwhile, but whatever. We’re here now. Let’s take a look around. It already looks very nice. There are guards everywhere. He’s munching on his tom yum or pad thai or whatever. And we’re cycling through the park now. Okay, another attendant. Can I just go through? Okay, so a nod. Ride through. Don’t ask such a stupid question, he says. Look here. It almost looks Japanese somehow. Or kind of Chinese with the roofs, the curved ones. An oasis of calm in the middle of the city. Wow, amazing. Look at this. You’d gladly pay the entrance fee. Especially since it’s so well-maintained. They’re really doing their part to make it look nice. So I have to explore this thoroughly now. The whole park. There are paths going left and right, crisscrossing all over the place. Let’s take a look around. Here comes the next cyclist. So, we’re not alone. Yes, as you can see, there’s even a tennis court here, or rather, several, three even. No one’s playing on them. But yes, if you want, you can play tennis here. There’s another court here. So, this seems to be some kind of circuit. Wait a minute. It’s some kind of circuit on this road here. He maintains the court for whoever. Um, but there are these gates, these checkpoints, like up ahead. A barrier. And there’s always something written on the gate, which they put out on the road. Which I can’t decipher, of course, because it’s written in Thai. So, as long as they don’t say anything, I just keep going. But according to the map, you can really go all the way around here. But now I have to find the lake. I haven’t found it yet. I’ve been in this Rama the Ninth Park the whole time. King Rama, the late one. So, here’s another checkpoint. Doesn’t seem to care, though. A little while ago, someone chased me away while I was in the park. Apparently, you’re not allowed to cycle in it, at least not where I was. So he directed me to this path around the outside, where I am now. But it’s nice, too. It’s like a little road. At least you can cycle nicely without being bothered. There are no cars or pedestrians or other cyclists. So I have the whole park to myself. There are some pedestrians over there. But they’re not a problem. That path leads somewhere. Yeah, I don’t know if I’m allowed to go that way. Just try it until I get chased away. They won’t arrest you for it. So, friends, how are things with you? You’ve been out in the mountains for five hours. Your back hurts. You just want to go home. You’re completely fed up. All you want to do at home is lie down somewhere, eat something, and put your feet up, but where’s the recovery in that? They say you’re supposed to do stretching exercises all the time. I have to be honest. I don’t. I’m just too lazy. I don’t have any energy left, or yeah, you use a foam roller, lots of people do. But I’m not the type to do any kind of gymnastics after five hours. Or, if you’re in Thailand like I am right now, you can get a massage. Although I don’t really do that either, because I honestly don’t like them, but of course you can. Lots of people do. It doesn’t cost much, 200-300 baht here on the beach. But not everyone is in Thailand and can afford a massage. There is another option, though: there are massage guns, massage wands, for example, the one from Bob and Brad, which I received. At first I thought it was a coffee brand, but no, they make massage guns, and not bad ones at that. This thing has 40 watts, four speed settings , and goes up to 7000 RPM. So it’s a really powerful device. It really packs a punch. It has four different attachments: the main head, which has the largest surface area, and three smaller ones that you can use as needed on your shoulders, arms, thighs, or calves. Like I said, I was skeptical, thinking, “Well, what’s the point of this?” I thought it just vibrates a bit, but I was pleasantly surprised. It actually did work, especially for lazy people like me. You don’t have to move much; you can just lie down and let it do the work. I really liked it. If you want to try one, you can use my link below the video. There’s a 10% discount, so take advantage of it. Especially for beginners who might not be used to such long rides, it might not be so bad. I mean, someone who’s really fit won’t have any problems recovering after 5 hours. But especially for those who don’t ride that often or for that long, it might not be so bad. Like I said, the link is below the video. Check it out. I can highly recommend the Bob and Brad massage gun. And I’m going to relax here on the lounger for a bit until then. So, I don’t know if you can read this. I’ve just fired up Google Translate: ” Only staff vehicles this way.” Yeah, well, I just drove right through it. All types of skids are prohibited. Are we skids? And here, yes, here’s the official sign for the bike lane. So, I’m only allowed to ride around the outside, but it doesn’t matter. Well, I sometimes ride in when no one’s around. There’s no one here anyway, so I went in. You have to break the rules sometimes. I didn’t break anything. Yeah, he’s fast asleep here, but you’re not allowed in here. Staff only. I actually wanted to go to this big lake, but… Hello, to the lake? Can I go here? Lake go. Probably doesn’t speak English. กล้อง เห็น มั้ย กล้อง โอเค อ่า โอเค ขอบคุณ ครับ ผม (Camera. Do you see the camera? Okay. Okay. Thank you.) Here, so apparently this is the way in. You’re allowed to ride your bike in here. I wonder if I’ll get chased away again? Very adventurous in this park today. Many entrances, few allowed. Ah yes! Sawasdee khrap! Both ways? Left okay? So, both ways are allowed. Oh, nice here. Here we are now. Look, the bridge. Very nice. Oh yes, someone’s already riding their bike across. Well, that’s allowed too. Yes, this is a brilliant route. So, if you live here, you can do your training sessions here, or, well, just ride around the park 50 times, then you’ll get a kilometer in. There are no cars around. Oh, that was the marker for the other direction, because I think I’m going the wrong way, but he said I can go this way. Okay, then I’ll do that. Something’s already broken off here. Okay, we can go left once, right once. It’s not that busy. It’s not bothering anyone here. This is Runners Lane, what’s she doing now? She was taking some selfies too. For Instagram. So, I’m going to ride in the other direction now, because everything is signposted in one direction. I really don’t fancy driving the wrong way here, even if the guy up ahead said I could go left. But we’ll follow the official signs. We’re guests in this country , so we should follow the rules, even if that’s not the case where we’re from, but that’s what I’m doing. So, we’re going counter-clockwise. Okay, now we’re exactly at kilometer 0. Yes, the whole thing is 4 km long. It says so on the sign here: 0.0, 0 km, and here it is again on the road. I was here yesterday, I drove in. Just popped in briefly, and there’s a nice bike café. I’ll go there later. They have a nice coffee. They also have bikes. They probably rent them out too. What’s it called? Happy Bike. We’ll check it out later. Now we’ll do the 4 km loop here. Left, slow lane, 15 km/h max, fast lane on the right, 20 km/h. We’ll have to take a look. Yes, beautiful. They’re even out here in sailboats. Yeah, tell me. It’s just like the Dutzendteich lake here. Look at the trees, how they’re growing over the path. Really cool. Yeah, there was another path back there, by this, yeah, what’s this? A dam or weir, locks, but it went past some kind of industrial area, I don’t know. I wasn’t sure if that was the official path, but it forked. So I turned left here between these two, you can see, or this is some kind of side path. It looked more inviting now, past the industrial area again, but it looks like it’s starting to rain. It seems to be raining where I started. That’s not far away, 7 km. Let’s see. But yeah, it never lasts long. It rains briefly, then for half an hour, and later it’s all dry again. In the meantime, you can sit down at a Happy Bike Café and watch what’s going on. But for now, we’ll ride along here while it’s still dry. But it’s already windy. The wind is picking up. And here, people are walking their dogs. Three of them. So, this is the spot I was talking about. I turned left here a little while ago. Between these lakes, and here it goes, strangely enough… yeah, here… It almost looks like some kind of industrial area. No idea what this is. Looks odd. But it’s the official route. Less nice than the other one, or rather, less than the other one. People from Franconia always say “like the other one.” Please forgive me. What’s here? Golf. Driving range. Okay, everything’s on offer here. No, but this is actually where the road continues. Everything’s still a bit under construction here, it seems, but like I said, we drove through over there where the trees are a little while ago. Now we’re going past the next house. Let’s drive this stretch. Ah, I know where we’ll come out now. That’s where I turned around because I was driving in the wrong direction. I got in on the right. The capo’s somewhere up ahead. Right. And here’s the other bridge. I’ll tackle that one now. And then we’re basically done here. Exactly. Now the circle is complete. Well, I don’t need to drive up that bridge because that was the one I drove over from the other side. I thought there were two bridges here. I’m a bit confused. The other one might just be some kind of promontory that juts out into the lake. I’ll have to take a look, but we’ve got the bridge. So we’re done. Now we’ll go to the café because it’s starting to drizzle. The camera lens has already gotten a bit wet. No big deal. Everything’s still fine. People are still outside. No one’s seeking shelter. But yes, it’s getting increasingly dark and hazy. We’re already at kilometer 3.8. I was going to say 308. So, we’ll stop at four. It’s up ahead. Time to head to the Happy Bike Café. Yes, folks, that’s it for this video, one lap around the park and one around the lake. Very nice. You can easily rack up the kilometers here. 20, 30 km are no problem at all. It’s peaceful. You pay 10 baht entrance fee, which is about 25 cents. It’s not going to break the bank. But there are no cars here, hardly any pedestrians, just bikes. Yes, you’re practically the only one out and about. I don’t know what it’s like in the evenings when it gets dark. That’s usually when the Thais come out. Yes, when it’s not so hot anymore, they slowly start getting active. The same goes for the bike lane here at the airport. It’s apparently always packed there in the evenings, but during the day there’s practically no one there because it’s way too hot. It’s a real insider tip, I highly recommend it. I can also recommend the Black Friday sales at Insta360. They start on November 20th and run until December 4th. Check them out. They have great deals on Insta360 cameras, which is the one I’m filming with right now. The Ace Pro 2. It’s my favorite camera now. I wouldn’t do anything else. And take a look. Like I said, it starts soon in November. I’m enjoying my coffee yen here. That’s iced coffee, because here in Thailand we don’t drink hot coffee, we only drink coffee with ice cubes. I’m going to chug it now. Thanks for watching. See you again in the next video, maybe from Bangkok again. Until then, bye! Bye!
