Hey guys, welcome back to Modern Golf. I hope you’re having a great day and better week. Today we’re talking about new golf shoes for the fall. Uh, one of our favorite brands, G4. We’re going to make this very quick. We are now doing five minute and under footwear reviews. So, you can get the information you want and move along and not spend two days with me. Uh, although certainly you can stay as long as you want, but we want to do these rapid to kind of get you moving on to the next. G4. One of our favorite golf shoes this year had been this guy. Uh, and this is the MG4 Plus. And this is the one with uh the spikes. And I’ll put it on both cameras here so you can see. Definitely one of our favorite golf shoes we have tried. Maybe the best golf shoe uh them and FootJo, a couple other brands that we really, really like this year. Um, but this shoe has the most cushioning I’ve ever used uh in a golf shoe, certainly with spikes. So G4 in kind of a weird way just released these. And I had just worn these this morning, so they’re a little full of grass. Um, but I want to give you kind of what I think of these and why I would say to get this one over that one. Or is it that one over this one? So, if you’re unfamiliar with G4, they have a thousand shoes. Gallivanters, Gallivan 2RS, um, G112s, a lot of great golf shoes. We’ve worn and probably tested every G4 golf shoe there is and really have enjoyed every golf shoe that they’ve put out. One of the things they’re known for, and I’ll put a picture up. I’ll see if I can even get this one out. So, one of the things they’re known for is this super padded footed. Uh we’ve seen this from some other brands now as well. You know, this is a a love and hate thing. Um I understand the cushioning part, but I also feel when you first get it, it’s a little slick. Again, just my two cents. So, it’s not my favorite thing. But why would you want the soft spike versus the hard spike? And we’ll get into that. So, first let’s talk sizing. Uh, same with the original G4 shoes we did earlier in the year. Um, run true to size. Uh, I’m a nine and a half in athletic shoes. I go a nine and a half in these and they fit fantastic. I literally have no issues. No slipping, no everything. If we talk about stability in these guys, as you can see here, and I’ll put up in another few different ways here. Very stable golf shoe. I think G people don’t think G4 as a real competitor’s golf shoe. You are wrong. These are super good for really all kinds of golf from recreational to competitive. And yes, I think there are differences with shoes. I think some people just have a casual round of shoes or have a casual round, they’re not so concerned. But if you play competitive golf, you want everything locked in and dialed in. These do that. So, are these more cushiony than these? Uh, short answer, yes. Um, do I like one more than the other? No. What I would tell you, uh, this time of year in the fall when I’m recording this, I prefer the spikes. Um, so that’s why I’m a little puzzled on the order of these. Um, this summer is ideal for um, this colorway just happens to be white, all white with a little bit of camo navy on here. Um, you can see the little difference in in here. Let me put these up this way so you can see the differences in color way. Uh, one is a little planer than the other and again has a little different uh, sole there as well. So, what do I think of these overall? Fantastic golf shoes. Um, really again we fit true to size. extremely comfort, um, very stable. Again, if you are looking for a shoe for summer or you’re not playing in super wet conditions, uh, this is the shoe I would go with. If you’re playing in crap conditions or beginning or end of the year, I would say get the lock version. I think this is may be the best golf shoe in the market right now, uh, is the G4 lock version. Couple things I’m going to pick on real quick and I’ll do a real quick tour of this. My god, look at this grass. Don’t tell my wife, everybody. So, I’ll give you a quick tour of this shoe and we’ll just kind of go around it. We’ll start with this way. So, outsole very cushiony. Has a little G4 logo in here, which I like. It’s not over the top. Um, has this very cool, it’s not leather, but this material that wraps around kind of your toe guard uh that protects it that we really like. Very smooth, easy to clean leather. Again, I don’t love I I get the texture part of it. This is not the easiest thing to clean. Uh, but if you buy if you watch any of our other shoe videos, uh, take Lexal and a Sue and a shoe dober, uh, and and it’ll clean these up perfect and you won’t miss a beat. Again, little camouflage here, the little decoration back in here. Uh, this doesn’t do anything as I found out and I’ve gone through this. Um, very cushiony Achilles pad. Let me throw this shoe bed back in here. The insole back in here. Best way to put the insole back in here is fold it in half. Um, and then you’re good to go. Pretty simple. Uh, but if you played with orthotics and you played sports, uh, you get used to how to kind of put orthotics in and out of shoes all the time. Little pull tab here. And again, very comfortable. Uh, heel counter here. A little plasticky, but not much. The only thing I will say I don’t love about this, and I didn’t notice it on this one as much, and I’ll just show you guys. I don’t love this super white um, material in here that’s not like water resistant. Uh, I think that’s just a weird I don’t know why you put fabric there. Uh, and same thing with the inside. Again, that’s my only really knock of this shoe. Uh, G4 continues to impress and impress and impress. Really good golf shoe. Again, I’ll put pricing up. I believe they’re 225. Um, again, one of our favorite golf shoes certainly was the G-Lock. This one is just a cushier, better, softer version of it. Uh, with soft spikes to be honest. Um, if you and as cushy as this one is, this one is even cushy iner. Um, if that’s even a word. Uh, more cushy. Cushy iner. I I don’t know what the word I’m looking for. U, but definitely get a little more bounce with this one than the G-Lock version. Phenomenal golf shoes. Only comes in a couple colorways now. And does come with Oh, I forgot to mention that. Oh, if I put them in here, I probably put them somewhere else. Um, it does come with two pairs of laces. A navy pair and then this white pair. uh if you want to kind of mix match or change them out as you would like. But anyway, highly recommend these. Great review. What’s the nicest public course in your area?
It seems a lot of shoes like this bring your heal too high, so when you swing you’re already on your toes. Is this the case with these as well? Some Nikes and Pumas do this. I like a ‘flatter’ feeling golf shoe, like a Nike AJ 1.
the Gfore massage soles felt odd at first but now i really love em. Very comfortable shoe and really weather proof. I play alot in wet/dewy conditions and my feet remain dry as a bone.
