A selection of the finest courses in Great Britain and Ireland will stage Regional and Final Qualifying for The 154th Open in 2026.

Through these qualifying events golfers from around the world will have the chance to book their place at golf’s original championship when it returns to Royal Birkdale from 12 to 19 July.

Regional Qualifying will take place at 15 different venues on Monday, 22 June 2026. From here players will have the opportunity to make it through to Final Qualifying, hosted at Burnham & Berrow, Dundonald Links, Royal Cinque Ports and West Lancashire, the following week on Tuesday, 30 June.

At each Final Qualifying venue a number of places for The 154th Open will be available.

In 2025 former world No1 Lee Westwood, 2024 Amateur Championship winner Jacob Skov Olesen and Richard Teder were among those to punch their tickets to Royal Portrush via Final Qualifying.

Teder – who became the first Estonian player to qualify for the Championship – produced a moment for the ages after he holed out from the fairway for eagle on the third play-off hole to secure his place.

With more drama guaranteed in the pursuit of an Open berth, the following venues will host Regional Qualifying on 22 June, 2026:

Enville (Highgate Course)

Minchinhampton (Composite Course)

The following venues will host Final Qualifying on 30 June, 2026:

Regional and Final Qualifying events are among a number of different pathways into The Open, with a series of exemptions already in place and Open Qualifying Series (OQS) events running throughout the year.
