Adam Schenk spoke to the media after his first PGA Tour win at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, where he was asked:

– How does it sound to be called the winner this week?
– What emotions are you feeling right now?
– Take us through the emotions of that putt to win?
– Is pure love of golf what kept you going during 2 stretches of 6 missed cuts this season?

Unbelievable. Um was really hoping this day would come some some point in my life. Never, you know, never really know if it is. It’s what makes the the journey so amazing and interesting and it’s it’s a surreal moment when it finally does. Several like in a sense a little bit of you know just relief that it’s it was so difficult. So a little bit of relief that it’s over with. Um and to finally get it done because it it just seems like some point or another. I’ve been so close so many times. You either eventually you get it done or you don’t and I’m only going to have so many more of these opportunities, especially if I would have, you know, lost in a four or five man playoff and then still end up almost have to go to Q school. Like that was just a massive putt for me to make. A massive putt for to have to have go in. And it’s somewhat life-changing. It’s life-changing. I get two more years on the PJ tour and I feel like I’m playing the best golf of my life that I’ve ever played. Um, for a lot of this year, I just haven’t putted well and, you know, maybe putting one-handed this week a little bit. Unfortunately, it was too windy over the weekend to actually have, you know, one hand on the wheel. So, I had to put the other hand on top. Um, but I I’ll be interested to see uh see how that holds true next week and uh see Alan Thorson. You know, I’ll have to give credit to the, you know, we’re staying at the Princess, they’ve got nice carpet in the hotel rooms that put on. It’s a little bit right to It’s a little bit left to right as I putt towards the window and the the the bay and as I putt towards the door, it’s a little bit right to left. So, I told myself, if you’re going to if you’re going to win this tournament and have a chance, control what you can control and you’re going to have to make some I mean, sounds crazy, but some two to five footers, I’d say, you know, four or five footers, but even the two three-footers. So, I just practiced last night for probably an hour when I was uh had dinner with uh Tyler Duncan back there and Bobby um in between going and watching the the Georgia Texas game. Unfortunately, Texas didn’t pull it out for Sir Bobby. Um but just in my hotel room just practicing with one hand and I put I’m like, “Okay, one hand’s not going to work because it’s got the wind emblem on the Weather Channel app and it’s it’s already windy here and it’s going to be real windy.” So, I kind of let let my left hand rest on top. The only thing you can do is, you know, line up to it, get a little bit left and take it back smooth and just release it and hit it off the center of the putter. And if it goes in, it goes in great. And it was so windy on the last hole. Um, I did the same process. But my best chance to hit it is just get up, do your process, and hit it. If you’re going to miss it, miss it quick, but don’t sit there and think about it forever. And I took one peek of the hole. It’s windy. It’s blowing the putter around. But as long as you make, you know, I feel like I if I make a smooth stroke and then release it. Don’t speed up. Don’t slow down. Just make a smooth stroke and release it. It’s it’s going to have the best chance to go. And even if it blows the putter all over the all over the God’s creation, it’s on the putting green. Practicing that. You may hit it way off the toe, way off the heel, but it’s still got a decent chance of going in the hole. If you just just do that and if it goes in, great. If it doesn’t, then hopefully you win the playoff. Too stupid to quit. Maybe. Um, yeah. two two cons two two sets of six miscuts. That’s I knew it was bad. I I’ll go through and look at my results every once in a while and I’m like, “Wow, that was that was an impressively bad stretch of golf.” And, you know, it’s slightly embarrassing, but at the end of the day, like I don’t really I don’t want to say I don’t care what anybody thinks, but like I I I have a belief in what I do and how I do things. Um, and that was that was probably bigger than anything this week is just seeing that belief go through and how I do things. And, you know, there is a method to the madness. It’s not always right, but that’s fine. Like, I’d rather go down swinging doing it my way and, you know, learn along the way and, you know, take advice from a small circle. Um, but it’s just unbelievable that it finally came true.
