WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Tournament officials announced on Tuesday that in 2026, the Wichita Open will be a tournament on PGA TOUR Americas.

The Wichita Open was previously on the Korn Ferry Tour, but after a tournament schedule restructuring, the Wichita Open couldn’t get the June slot they were interested in. It is returning to PGA TOUR Americas, which is the level below the Korn Ferry Tour.

Dusty Buell, the Wichita Open Tournament Director, said that the Wichita Open has been “a cornerstone of player development and community pride” for over 30 years.

“Joining PGA TOUR Americas gives us an exciting opportunity to continue that legacy while elevating Wichita as a premier stop in professional golf,” Buell said.

156 young golf players compete in the PGA TOUR Americas. They participate in a season-long points race, where the top 10 advance to the Korn Ferry Tour, and after that, the PGA TOUR.

“From the community support to the fan and player experience, the Wichita Open has created a legacy that sets it up for immediate success on PGA TOUR Americas,” said Alex Baldwin, the President of PGA TOUR Americas and Korn Ferry Tour.

The Wichita Open will take place at Crestview Country Club, June 25 through June 28. According to event staff, it has over 225 sponsor partners, thousands of fans, and over $8,000,000 in annual economic impact.

The event also says that by being a PGA TOUR Americas event, it can keep an accessible pricing model, which it has had for 36 years.

Troy Jordan, Chairman of the Board, says that this switch “ensures sustainability for our partners and keeps Wichita in the national and global golf spotlight.”

The PGA TOUR Americas was created in 2023 when PGA TOUR Canada and PGA TOUR Latinoamérica combined. Events along this tour have taken place in places like Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Canada.
