Former Ryder Cup star Henrik Stenson will return to the DP World Tour more than three years after leaving to join LIV Golf. Stenson joined the Saudi-funded breakaway league in 2022, which resulted in the 49-year-old leaving the DP World Tour.
It was also in 2022 when Stenson was originally named as the captain for Team Europe at the Ryder Cup in Italy.
When Stenson signed up for LIV, his captaincy was revoked, with Luke Donald taking on the honour at Marc Simone Golf Club in Rome.
Stenson has been one of the star members of the LIV Golf circuit ever since he joined the league three years ago. The 2016 Open champion has lost his place on the tour, which is funded by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, having finished in the relegation places at the end of the 2025 season.

It has been reported by Bunkered that Stenson looks set to rejoin the DP World Tour next season, having settled the fines that were imposed on him after competing in LIV Golf events without permission.
The total of the fines was reported to be more than £1million, which has now been fully paid and will allow Stenson to rejoin the tour next year.
News emerged earlier this year that LIV Golf informed players on the circuit that they would stop paying the fines that they racked up for not competing on the DP World Tour or PGA Tour.
This change will apply at the end of this year, on December 31, meaning players who are still being fined need to find the funds for themselves.
After seeing his relegation from LIV confirmed in August, Stenson opened up on what could be next for him in his career.
“Over the course of a career, you’re going to have good years, you’re going to have bad years,” Stenson said back in August, via Bunkered.

“It’s part of professional sports. You’re going to have disappointment. You’re going to have good times.
“On this end, I had the worst season out of the team, and I’m the one in the worst spot. You’ve just got to deal with it and move forward.”
The 2025 DP World Tour season came to an end on Sunday with Matt Fitzpatrick winning the DP World Tour Championship at the Earth Course in Dubai. Fitzpatrick defeated Rory McIlroy in a play-off to clinch the £2.3million prize.
Despite not claiming the victory, McIlroy secured the Race to Dubai title for the fourth consecutive year and for the seventh time across his illustrious career
