Ho-sung Choi highlights | Round 1 | 2019 Magical Kenya Open
it’s up on the uh ninth grade ho sung choy i wonder if we’re gonna see any foot movement with this birdie attempt oh yeah we are look at that he says he uses his body like a remote control so he was trying to trying to force the ball in this is european tour devi of course he made his pga tour debut at pebble beach he’s teased it up very high well ideally you want to hit a draw here as jay was saying with that strong wind off the left i love the body language absolutely so entertaining tony you’re raising your eyebrows at it well i think it is fun to watch it’s just slightly bizarre but uh you know what he’s making he’s making his own brand out of it two terrific hits isn’t it for hosang choy probably wouldn’t we want to be stepping or putting across his line after he’s done his footwork well that’s what i was just saying though that eagle puck slides by the left side nowadays you can tap down spike marks the fisherman of course he worked in a fish canning uh factory tuna factory that’s where he got half his thumb chopped off a little bit of a flyer there didn’t have enough body action when he didn’t start playing golf until he was 25 four years later turned pro at 29. an amazing talent he really is check this out outside and shut down through the ball very good but yeah i don’t think you want to copy that foot action fun to watch but don’t try and emulate that at home now when he’s got decent lies he seems to play these chips pretty well we watched him richard out of some really dense kaku behind 15 in the practice round and it was it was a bit of a horror story to be honest he did you know we swim hit one have one goat with an inch the next one went six inches yeah i’ve watched him playing in korean and uh jay brought it up his short game there is fabulous 13t here wind and the players facing from the right imperative hit it in the fairway nearly tripped himself up there hurts my knees just watching it that looks like he’s uh stymied behind the tree if he he does that foot move move in the next shot he’s going to hit himself up against the tree well choi’s got a swing but it’s an interesting shot he’s got to try and keep it low under the branches and probably try and get a bit of hook as well there’s quite a swale short of this green which i think he’s going to have to try and run it through the wind ought to be off the right and against it feels it’s helping at the moment it swirls around so much he’s gonna try and hook it like this a dangerous shot coming out of the rock difficult to curve it much oh that was unlucky took a lot of pace off it may still work that’s a fantastic shot from where he was to get it to curve out of the rough running along that kakuya well done he’s a very creative player yeah i’m sure i would have gotten the tattoo but he did promise the team he was a man of his words we look at choi chipping for birdie from shore to the 13th that one just takes a slope and it goes a little white our tv cameras flatten things out these greens do have some nice undulations in them this would be a great par save at 13 for troy trouble off the tee not a great pit shop from just short of the green i was up and out of that quickly knew he didn’t hit it hard enough so he drops to one over part it’s a time for 61st or 65 and ties not including amateurs he’s got his fan club look at that fisherman’s swing gone one of the difficulties here is you’re in a real shoot of trees you don’t feel the breeze or wind at all on the tee so nobody finding the passive surface from uh this group work today it’s it’s not a much easier shot for sure here actually because it’s such a short little shot he’s got to keep the club really moving through this other wide with the club face wide open just pop it up in there and let it release out what are you saying about flex injury that’s it always leave the flag in because that was going well past the hole julian now he’s got a tapped in although we saw port here shirley with the flag out span up and went in there’s no hard and fast rule but percentage-wise it’s going to help you more than it’s going to hurt you and certainly help joy there no doubt about it that makes my back hurt my knees feel like they’re going to twist and then my back hurts when he arches back looks like a decent line plays it uh muthega golf club where they played the king you’re open probably more times really it’s been shared between this course and that one no fancy footwork on this occasion and a tasty little iron shot at the well shortish rough gusting winds here looks like uh that could have something to do with this putt might go a little bit extra left to right you know what an experience he’s a guy from a small fishing village in korea here he is in africa for the first time oh the full we’ve got the full 360 there unfortunately didn’t drop i gotta admit i wasn’t watching the ball much he’s riveting to watch i love watching him play he’s uh he’s great value 171 for the front left hole location wind coming out of the right i guess when you walk backwards you’re trying to break it back correct yeah i’m starting to get this you know body language here i was unsure at first down the hill and kind of diagonally down a ridge and that one got away from him short but for choi there for par at 16. well done it is interesting i mean i understand putting from say outside of 10 feet i think we’re gonna get the big flourish here after impact just going with the three wood playing for control that was definitely one for the cameras scuttling through the trees he’s hitting a lot of his tee shots left right now if there was a 27th letter of the alphabet that would describe choi’s position here ball down trees in the way man short of the green if he gets this on the green he’s done brilliantly yeah there’s a really good indicator of how hard it is just a little steamy the ground is so hard now although the fairways look quite green and very firm paul’s gonna run a long way with wind assistance less remote control body work required for that one as it was straight down the middle it’s not a great lie at the back of the 18 for choice third shot it’s one of those that could easily come out a little bit hot a lot of practicing is not too comfortable in it good result fantastic or maybe starting to acclimatize thanks gonna finish off well invariably use the flag and i suspect we might see more of this as time goes by actually it does depend on how thick the pin is it’s very thick it would be less desirable at least it speeds things up doesn’t it absolutely yeah certainly in this occasion 73 for ho song choi work to do tomorrow to make the weekend congratulations first time in africa talk us through how you’re feeling after that round [Music] is first of all thank you very much for the fans and because of the fans i’m able to come to africa and i missed a lot of chances um today especially in hole number eight and number nine and yes i think but the weather is also really good in kenya how difficult is it now playing golf all around the world in so many different conditions new grasses here how hard is that okay [Music] i’m very happy to be playing all around the world um the grass the soil the wind the humidity and the um and every country is different but i’m very happy to be playing around the world especially with the support from the fans throughout the world thank you very much um i’ll also try to play my best better tomorrow well done well played and thank you yeah thank you very much if you want to watch Does he ever hit a fairway? Spoke too soon
I think a lot of people, myself included, click on this video to laugh at this guy. After hearing a bit more about his story, boy do I feel like an ass. What an inspiration
He kind of sucks!
Bro what
I think his swing is pretty silly and I’m not amused.
Oba Gangnam Style!
this guy is a cartoon
Happy Korean!
Proof you don't need to be born with a club in your hand or spend a fortune on lessons, something the golf world doesn't want anyone to know.
Nice to see the unconventional get their big break. Bubba Watson is my favorite story like this.
Lol and they thought happy Gilmore was a disgrace to the game. This guy is hardly a pro golfer, and he sets a very bad example for many up and coming golfers. Jesper had a wacko swing. At least the guy knew how to score
did he has student ?
That joy is truly genuine. So hilarious move. 😸 7:56
아!챙피하다진짜
studies show that playing golf is the leading cause of tourette's syndrome
I move a lot like this just on a lower level lol
is this guy fucken serious
No matter what his swing looks like, the fact that he has only been playing for 4 years and playing on a pro tour is amazing.
i don't understand how he can play on the asian tour so well and shoot as low as -16 Under. but then seeing him playing on the ET or the PGA IS NIGHT AND DAY.
if this guy is a pro, i am going to go and qualify for the masters, talk to you guys again after i put on my green jacket.
If it ain’t broke…
Fun fact: he only owns this one pair of golf shoes, you will see him wearing these ones in every video. What a legend!
More proof you don't need a textbook swing to play golf. Just gotta make things work one way or another
Jim Furyk, Matthew Wolfe and Ho-sung Choi. The ultimate grouping.
The commentators are butt-hurt.
Actually, I'm guessing this is way easier on your back than what the rest of are doing!
So fun to watch him play!!
someone setup a matchplay with Ho-sung Choi and Matthew Wolf
He can be Charles Barkley's coach
He says lucky.Would have been anyone else it would have been a terrific shot.Dont care for that announcer.
4 years incredible
Well, whatever he’s doing, it’s working 😳👌
Imagine meeting him on the 1st tee at your local muni and he wants to play a $2 game and asks for strokes?
Painful to watch. Damages the greens for everyone else with his dance moves when he putts.
Who’s here from joe rogan? 😅
The commentators are real knobheads lol! 😅 golf needs some new personalities instead of these musty old dinosaurs
If bro fixed his long game he could be deadly. I imagine his short game is so damn good to get out of trouble so often
I am going to emulate this guy. Hopefully, my back won't hurt as much during my swings
I dont know whether to laugh, cheer or cry, but I do know I wanna see more
