Seamus Power missed a golden opportunity to secure his PGA Tour card when he made four bogeys in his last five holes to tie for 11th in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
The West Waterford star (38) was just three shots off the lead overnight but while got to within two shots of the lead with seven holes to play, he came undone down the stretch at a windy Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton.
Bogeys at the 14th, 16th, 17th and 18th dashed his title chances and a two-over 73 left the 2022 champion five shots behind winner Adam Schenk (33) on seven-under par.
Schenk, who was 134th in the FedExCup Fall standings with only the top 100 fully exempt, shot 71 to claim his maiden PGA Tour win by a shot from Chandler Phillips on 12-under and earn a two-year exemption.
Power moved up four spots to 129th in the standings but still has one more chance to make the top 100 if he can contend for the final-counting RSM Classic at Sea Island this week.
Meanwhile, Leona Maguire closed with a one-under 70 to finish 52nd in the clubhouse on level par behind Linn Grant in The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican.
She finish 56th in the points standings with the top-60 qualifying for this week’s season-ending CME Globe Tour Championship at Tiburón in Florida.
