  1. In the Pacific Northwest, a brown or black, Bead Head Hare’s Ear Nymph, in size 12 to 14, works great!
Fish em below a dink strike indicator, in small lakes that are stocked, and anywhere from 3’ to 8’ deep.
Combine this setup with a 2 lb. test tippet, and start catching trout! 🐟

  2. Yeah, those flies work, but Id rather not catch than use a mop or squirmy. I fly fish for the challenge. Those flies are the FF equivalent of bait. If i wanted to throw bait, Id go back tp spinning gear

  3. What I do is spend about ten minutes looking for bugs and picking a fly that best resembles it something I learned from my stepdad

  4. I am new to fly fishing and am waiting for my own fly rod. I wiuld use grasshopper dry flies for trout especially at public pinds where there are plenty of grasshoppers

  5. Even better tip- Any fly will probably work. What is the difference between you and that guy is probably his leader, tippet size, and the quality of his drifts.

  6. Funny thing is traditionalist will frown at you for using most of these patterns. The object of fishing is to catch fish. Lus fishing isn't a spectator sport. Who gives a rats a__ if you handle the fish properly and release them. Stock trout are intended to be kept hence the term put and take. Besides for me I think stocked trout are terrible tasting.

  7. I was thinking about trying a hopper dropper rig for stocked trout. I'm thinking a Chubby Chernobyl and either a Double Trouble or Squirmy Worm? Any other recommendations or advice?
