Inclement weather today in San Diego. Lots of rain and huge, gusty winds.
Torrey Pines was absolutely open tee time wise so I took advantage as a local, and like the lunatic I am booked on and hopped on. Only person for the 1245 tee time and played by myself!
I had an absolute blast! Rain rounds at Torrey are so iconic. The course was playing super rough with the rain and wind. Played 2-3 balls a hole, finished in just under 3.5 hours walking.
Insane rain and wind made the front 9 insanely tricky and difficult to go through. I had a drive carry ~30 yards more than normal on hole 7 with the wind behind my back, almost drove the green.
My umbrella broke shortly afterwards and my push cart flipped over!
Cleared up as I finished up hole 10 though and it was back to partly cloudy weather with a few gusts here and there.
Easily one of my favorite rounds ever played.

No thanks. There was a time when the weather didn’t matter to me but those days are gone. Wet grips and wind.
As someone who has walked much less prestigious courses in the rain, I approve!!
Have played there in the rain before. The course plays solid still and personally think golf god reward soldiers that stick it out. Hope you went low and enjoyed the round.

Love when the fog comes in and out there. Makes it tough even for a local.
Did this at Coronado a couple years back. Weather so aggressive, they didn’t charge me.
LFG Torrey North is hands down the best track in Cali and its all about the vibes. Insane that people pay more to play the South when half the damn holes line up to the Hilton and Scripps.

As a Canadian I’m confused
I played in Palm Springs yesterday with my friends. Two courses, practically empty. We played 36 holes in 8 hours with a lunch break ! Was glorious and only rained a combined 30min or so.
I heard it’s in terrible shape over seeded and shaggy
