Max Greyserman sums up a mixed-emotion finale: a 65 in the final group, a must-make birdie on 18 (187 playing 196, nuked 7-iron, hard draw) and the lesson that Sundays demand something extra on the PGA TOUR. He explains the pressure (“heart rate spiked, adrenaline up”), says these final-group reps are invaluable, and vows to find one more gear next time.
Only been a couple minutes since sign scorecard, but what’s initial thoughts and feelings on after this final round? Uh, yeah, I could take this a few different ways. Another second would be one thought. Disappointed would be another thought, but also on the flip side, I I can say I played really well. I shot 65 on Sunday when I was tied for the lead um in in the last group. So, a lot of good. It’s like I I don’t really know how to feel because I’m obviously very disappointed, but you know, it’s the PGA tour. You need to you need to play exceptional on a Sunday to win a golf tournament. And I played great, but I just didn’t play good enough. You just named a whole bunch of positives, but what do you keep learning about yourself that especially take away the rest of this fall? Yeah, I mean that that shot on that shot on 18, I mean, I needed to make the shot. I I knew I needed to do that. And so with the pressure and all that excitement, the juices, I pulled off and hit a great shot and birdie the last hole. So that’s a positive to take away. I think whether it’s positive or negative, I feel like just continuing to experience those Sundays uh near the lead. Um those are invaluable rounds. really important I feel like because what you feel Thursday, Friday, and then what you feel Saturday, Sunday, but not near the lead is very different than how your body feels uh near the lead. And I think everyone would could agree to that. And so the more times I experience that, it’s just getting more comfortable and and then so the next next time I have that opportunity, I’m even even more comfortable. But I felt good today. Felt calm. You know, obviously you have nerves. I’m sure Xander had some nerves at times, highs, lows, but felt felt good to to experience that. So, just just continuing to put myself in those situations will pay off in in the end at some point. For those who we aren’t professional golfers or the fans watching at home, how can you best put into words or explain what final round and the final group what it feels like to be in contention? Yeah, I I feel the easiest way to explain it was whatever your heart rate is on just hanging out whatever inside playing golf on a random Tuesday. If you went for a run and your heart rate got elevated and then you just went to play golf right after that I feel like it’s just your heart rate is just elevated everything you feel a little bit of adrenaline I guess. So elevator heart rate, more adrenaline. So it feels very different than just hanging out with your buddies, hitting a few shots. So I feel like that’s the easiest way to explain it. Perfect. Thank you. Thank you guys for the time.
