November 15, 2025-Emporia State disc golf teams had a good start to day one of the Mid-American Regional Championship presented by Dynamic Discs.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
Emporia State swept the individual tiles in the men’s D1, men’s D2 and women’s competitions.  Micah Tatro won the men’s D1 individual title while defending national champion Atlanta Krueger won the women’s championship.  Grant Yoder rounded out the singles wins with a title in D2 men’s competition.

After the first round the second ranked Emporia State men’s team of Tatro, Carter Ahrens and TJ Reel were tied for first at -5 but they went nine under in the team portion to set in third place at -14 headed into Sunday’s D1 men’s final round. They are two strokes behind Liberty and one behind Oklahoma Christian.

In the women’s competition Madelin Joiner and Isabella Parker have a two stroke lead over Krueger and Maya Ringgold.  Joiner and Parker combined to go -1 after the singles play and went one over in the team portion to set at even par headed into the finals.  Krueger and Ringgold were even after singles and went two over in the team competition to be at +2 headed into Sunday’s competition.  The next team in the team standings is Hesston, who is ranked #11 in the nation, and the Threshers will enter the final round at +15.

Emporia State’s D2 men’s team of Caden Stucky, Grant Yoder, Joshua Sterner and Isaiah Esquivel have a seven stroke lead going into Sunday’s final round. They went -11 in the opening team round of competition to hold a one stroke lead on KU and a two stroke advantage over Wichita State. The Hornets combined for -6 in the singles competition to move to -17 in the tournament while the Shockers were just one under in singles and the Jayhawks went three over.

 

FINAL ROUND

The D2 men will get things started for Emporia State when they tee off at 10:30 a.m. in the final round from Champions Landing.  The D1 men will tee off on the lead card at 11:40 a.m. while the women’s lead card will be an all Emporia State pairing that tees off at 12:30 p.m. at Champions Landing.
