Kai Trump really enjoyed her first LPGA Tour event at The Annika, despite the 18-year-old University of Miami commit finishing 18-over. “For the first day I was definitely really nervous. I think the nerves just got to me. When I went out there today I felt very calm and peaceful to be honest with you,” said Trump. “That’s why I played better.”

Trump shot 13-over in the first round of her LPGA debut, including nine bogeys and two double bogeys, but was able to throw in four birdies during her second round.

“I was definitely more nervous than I expected, but I thought I hit a lot of great shots out there. I hit a lot of good shots just to the wrong spots. And obviously being, you know, my first LPGA event, now I kind of know how it goes. I felt a little out of order in the beginning but I kind of got it going afterwards.

“I learned a lot. It was amazing. I had a great time out there. Yeah, I didn’t play the way I wanted obviously, but for my first event ever I think I played pretty good, so”

It seemed as Trump’s only goal was to take knowledge from the professionals and apply them to her future golf career at the Miami, and have a good time at her first outing, as she took the advice from her grandpa, President Trump, and her mother’s boyfriend, Tiger Woods.

“He told me to go out there and have fun and just go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens,” Trump said on her grandfather’s advice before she hit the course.

She also said that Woods, the 15-time major winner who is dating Vanessa Trump, also had some tips and tricks.

“I mean, he is the best golfer in the entire world. I would say that. And an even better person.

“He told me to go out there and have fun and just go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens,”

Trump completed the course with a smile on her face and sent fans home happy with autographs.

She is currently a senior in high school who will begin her college career at Miami with new lessons from the professionals.

“I mean, honestly just prepare. I did everything I could possibly have done for this tournament,” Trump said about her biggest takeaways from The Annika.

“So I think if you prepare right the nerves can — I mean, they’re always going to be there, right? They can be a little softened. So I would just say that.”
