DULUTH, Minn. — Northland golfers are sneaking in one last round at Grand View Golf Course before colder weather strikes.

The course, which had previously closed down for the winter, opened back up for one final weekend of golf.

Dozens of golfers have been coming out to celebrate the end of the fall season, but the owner of the course says the beautiful weather is to thank for one last hurrah.

“We had a beautiful fall this year, and Mother Nature blessed us,” said Grand View’s owner, Chris Klatte. “Then Old Man Winter showed up and said, ‘Well, it’s over,’ and the golf gods said, ‘No.’ Then I heard about that, and I looked at the forecast and I said, ‘Yeah.’”

“So, it’s on like Donkey Kong, we’re open,” said Klatte.

Despite the good weather outlook, it was a scramble to get the course ready for a final weekend

“We put the golf course to bed last week, took down everything, and then we decided to pull the carts back out Thursday, and put the flags back in. and just discounted greens fees and let the players play one last time.”

“Or a couple last times,” said Klatte.

The course’s final scheduled day is Nov. 15, with a discounted $20 greens fee with a cart for those willing to brave the cold.
