Kai Trump Makes Waves at LPGA Debut Amid Media Buzz | Youngest in THE ANNIKA Field

and ready. Joining me here today after the first round of the Anukica driven by Gamebridge is Kai Trump. Um, can you talk a bit about making your first appearance in an LPJ event as the youngest player in the field? Yeah, I mean, I was definitely more nervous than I expected. Um, but, you know, I thought I hit a lot of great shots out there. Um, I hit a lot of good shots just to the wrong spots. Um, and obviously being, you know, my first LPJ event, now I kind of know how it goes and I felt a little out of order in the beginning, but I kind of got it going afterwards. Um, and um, yeah, I mean, I learned a lot. It was it was amazing. I had a great time out there. So, um, yeah, I didn’t play the way I wanted obviously, but for my first event ever, I think I played pretty good. So, yeah. Kai, uh, when when do you feel like you kind of settled into the round what hole? um to be honest with you on like the eighth hole on after I hit my uh shot into 18 and that was honestly the hole I was worried most about and I parred that and I felt like all right like now let’s we got that out of the way let’s go on uh keep on moving on but um the whole time I was nervous without a doubt but um I thought I did pretty good for just you know first time being the youngest player in the field and I had a great time out there. Hey Kai over here. Um, I also went to Benjamin and played on the golf team there, so congratulations. Um, I noticed how far you hit the ball. How did it feel seeing yourself sort of in the mix on the fairways out there today? Um, it was actually it was pretty cool because I I know I hit far, but kind of playing with the best players in the world and being literally right there or even out driving on some of the holes, it felt pretty good. It felt like my game’s in like a good spot and especially only being a senior in high school. It was it was kind of cool to see that. Awesome. Thanks. Yeah. Can you take us through what it felt like on the first T and maybe how it compared to the RNC when you stepped up to the microphone there? Um, well, so the first T I was a little more nervous in the RNC. Um, I um I thought I went in the bunker, but I hit way past the bunker and I think honestly the adrenaline the whole time I was seeing it way farther than I normally do. Um, and especially know that around like some of the part threes. Um, but yeah, I mean, compared to the RNC, I say the first teacher was a little more nerve-wracking than the RNC. You had a a really long wait on your approach on 18. What was going through your mind during that time? And how did you stay focused for that difficult shot? Um, well, me and my Caddyy Allen, we were just talking about like what we’re going to eat after the round and just like literally we did not even think about the shot at all. And then once we kind of saw them like start moving, then we were like, “All right, now it’s time to get like back in the zone.” But um we didn’t really talk about anything golf related for that long wait because you know you don’t want to stand over a shot and think long about it. You kind of just want to go up there, do your routine, and then hit the shot. So yeah. Was that shot on 18? Do you consider that your best one of the day? Um I would say my five iron on my last part three was the best shot of the day, but I would say that’s definitely up there. And how did you make sure you were able to recover from two doubles? Mhm. Didn’t let it throw your game way off. Just what, you know, did you just try to put them aside as you moved on? Yeah, I mean, I kind of just stayed the same the whole way. Just kind of just enjoyed my time out there. Obviously, I made mistakes. Um, and for my first event, that’s going to happen. Um, but I kind of just I stayed level the whole time. Like I I don’t think I really ever got too ahead of myself. So, yeah. The uh wedge shot, the third shot on your 17th hole, number eight. um the the way you were able to pick yourself up after the second shot. What did you show yourself about your ability to bounce back particularly right there? Yeah, I mean the obviously I learned a lot about myself this uh 18. But I think the first shot I hit leading up to there I couldn’t see because the sun was coming down so it kind of like threw me off and that’s why I chunked it. And then afterwards I’m like you know what like I just I know this is my type of shot. Just tight little draw in and I hit that shot multiple times. So, I kind of just trusted myself. Um, and I did it. And, you know, you got to bounce back. You can’t dwell on a bad shot. If I was dwelling on a bad shot, make my life a lot um harder. So, kind of just moved on from it. What What What yardage did you have in there on the on was it like 135 or so? Um, it was I think it was 129. Okay. And I kind of just hit under the wind like a tight little draw with my uh 46. So, yeah. Perfect. Thank you so much, guys. Yeah. Thank you guys. Appreciate it.

  1. everyone that has played this sport knows how difficult it is. Now imagine being in her position, with pressure, the last name. She knows it didnt go well, but she is still in high school. Congrats on debut!

  2. Let’s stop the negativity. Any kid would accept advantages their family or friends bestowed upon them

  3. She's a beautiful, smart young lady, the fact that her Grandpa is the President should have (Zero) to do with her play. Personally I've been very impressed with the (mature) way she conducts herself. 👍👏

  4. Kai is a sweet young lady and is quite popular in her own right. I'm sure as she gains more experience, she will be a force in golf. She is still very young and doesn't seem ready for this level of competition, but she will take this as an amazing learning experience. I'm pulling for her! Women's Golf is surly headed in the right direction.

  5. Kai is an amazing young Lady ! Very grounded for a girl whose family is worth Billions and Her Grandfather is the President of the United States. But then again, All the Trump kids and Grand Children are a total Credit to Our Country. Not sure if Kai can become a World Class Pro yet, but I know she will work hard and Never Quit !

  6. Considering it was her first LPGA tournament plus she had so much attention directed toward her being a Trump, she handled things very well, in my opinion! Good for her!
