Kai Trump, the granddaughter of U.S. president Donald Trump, made her LPGA debut on Thursday.
The 18-year-old amateur golfer participated in the first round of The Annika at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida.
While Trump closed out Round 1 admirably, she still finished last among the 108 competitors by carding a 13-over 83.
Haeran Ryu sat at No. 1 on the leaderboard through Thursday’s action, followed by Grace Kim and Jennifer Kupcho.
As for Trump, she started on hole No. 10 and missed a 15-foot putt for par before settling for a bogey. She ended up recording bogeys on each of the next three holes until she appeared to grow comfortable on No. 14, splitting the fairway for her first par of the day.
A three-putt on No. 15 prevented Trump from avoiding another bogey, but she carded two more pars to finish with a score of 41 on the back nine.
She didn’t start the second half of the round on a high note, registering a bogey on No. 1 before posting her first double bogey of the day on No. 2. Trump eventually bounced back with consecutive pars on the next two holes, though.
She went on to record another double bogey on No. 5 before alternating between bogey and par on the final four holes of the round.
While Trump is in serious danger of missing Friday’s 36-hole cut, her overall performance was solid considering her amateur status.
She’s committed to play golf at the University of Miami in 2026.
