So, what I’ve been working on is I’ve gotten too I was too under at the beginning of the year and the last year. So, I’ve been I got it more out in front of me, but now the cut’s gotten too cuddy. So, I’m trying to get a little more shallow with the driver coming down. I’ve gotten really good at it with the irons. Like, I can draw them. I can cut them. But driver, I still like that one is so close. Yeah. But there’s something like it felt shallow and then it started right. It’s like my club face hasn’t caught up to where it needs to still be kind of a little closed. Which makes sense, right? Like Yeah. I haven’t found that one yet. But the um again, if I had to play a golf tournament today and it felt like it does, like I would just play a bigger cut. Oh, the story is just good. Yeah. You’re just like this would just come out without even thinking about it. Well, that’s just like a normal person. You’re just not a normal person. Yeah. Why is that? How are you so bad at driving golf carts? I have to get like shallow and like my my uh right hip has to not just like hammer out. Yeah. So that I can kind of get closer to zero. So, I like it on its like side laid off so that the club’s kind of already shallow and then if I can wait a little bit and push it a little bit shallow side, I can just turn as hard as I want. That’s when I played my best golf. That’s what I did. club went up, it fell, and then I felt like I was like slicing everything, but it would just kind of bleed. And then now it’s gotten to the point where like it’s when I go to turn hard, it like does actually slice. So, I’m trying to find that like kind of cone like that happy medium of like where it needs to get to to turn. But I think that it’s the face now. The face is just hangs a little open with a driver. So, when I do get a shot like that swing, I liked it’s just a shade open and now it’s going to have the right flight, but start too far right. So, it’s kind of I feel that it’s a chase. deeply. We work on starting it best line obviously work on speed and reading it, but if you get a couple of those wrong, but like you adjust like you don’t have to make a perfect stroke as long as it starts on the line it’s supposed to go in. You know what I mean? Yeah. Whereas like honestly we you joked about it yesterday and I get it that you started it online too much. That’s true. I mean it can be but that means he’s one not being athletic and two you are making a massive assumption that you read every green perfect from putter not like intended putter misread the putt but because you aim shitty or you hit a great putt it could go in because you make a perfect stroke every time and I might be putting what you’re saying too crudely but are you basically saying like if you just tried less if you tried to be less precise with putting you’d make more potentially I don’t know I think everyone’s ever but my the three best putters I know like I’ve ever seen in my life say they don’t like it’s I can’t help them read a putt cuz it they don’t know exactly where they’re aim like Brian Harmon have you seen him he does this he like he pters until he feels comfy and then he hits it so he those are only three now I can’t do that I work on my aim like with a laser and like I have it as specific as I can but the point is is that when you do putt it’s not like every putt I hit feels like the best putt ever but if it goes into the hole it means that somewhere in here I adjusted and made it go in but I’m just saying to your point about you start it online. Let’s say it never if this is where it’s supposed to go, it goes there every single time. You don’t read every putt great and you still will make some putts. Mhm. There’s still an adjustment to that. Like you get you’re you aim bad on like accident, but inside it’s like you kind of know, bro. He reframes it in a way that’s like positive and like you did something good cuz if I make a I want to start every pal. I’m not saying I want to push and pull. I don’t get in there and say, “Oh, that’s like feel where it needs to go.” I try I’m as specific as I can get. But there has to be some freedom of being like I might have aimed this wrong, but I also might have read it wrong. So if I just hit a good putt, like that’s the end of my back school and this guy’s my mental coach and putting two wrongs can make a right. Well, yeah, because Okay. I don’t I don’t ever want to pull or push a putt. Like if I if I can help and I always want my speed to be perfect. Okay. But that the odds that everything is perfect is like slim. So, I can’t get over it and be like, am I, you know, like once I get over the putt, it has to be like, now hit the best putt you can. There has to be some freedom of like releasing the outcome. You’ve said that to me before. Yeah. Something similar along those lines. Yeah. And you’re a good putter. What? And like I I even pointed out that you like very seldom actually started where you’re trying to and he makes heaps. I feel like I started online a lot and miss a lot. Same that your point is is accurate. If you read every putt, uh, if I read every putt, if you aimed, sorry, if you aimed exactly where you meant to every single time and you never ever started one offline, then yeah, you almost are like pigeon holing yourself into like not being reactive. But I don’t buy that anyone reads greens that well. I don’t buy that anybody can aim that well. Agreed. Like, so there is some adjusting. This is my first time ever hearing this. Everyone aim everyone talks about aim point. Again, this is way different, but when you stand over a ball in the rough or fairway and it’s up here, you adjust like because your feet feel up. When you’re standing over a putt, you’re like, “Oh sh like somewhere in you like this, a this is too far.” Like I aim left to righters too high. Like I know I do that. I work to not do it. But when I have like four in a row miss like left, I know it’s just cuz I’m aiming over there and I’m hitting good putts. When I make a couple after that, sometimes I’m like, I’m probably pushing it into the hole like but I don’t feel it and want to do that. But it’s like there is some athleticism to putting that like you almost need to celebrate the reactive and athleticism. Yeah. Cuz before you hit a putt, you have to say if I’m going to hit the best putt I can and where it goes. Can’t some of that reactiveness your stroke too, though? That’s what I’m saying. I’m not I’m not here to say that I’m Brian Harmon like being free. I’m I want to roll the ball like he does. Like just end over end every single time. I’m trying to hit it exactly where I’m looking with the perfect speed. But there has to be some release. Yeah. But when I stand over that thing, I already read it. My least favorite thing, this will be a better way to answer it. My least favorite thing I do is I’ll read a putt. I’ll figure out what speed I’m going to hit it and I get in and I aim it as best I can and I get over it and go, “It feels like I’m aiming too far left.” And then I push. It’s like why? I don’t know if I am. Why didn’t I just hit a good putt? Like just I I did all the things. Like maybe I didn’t do it well, but maybe I did. I hate that. So it’s like once you get over it, just just hit the best putt you can. And there’s a thousand things that can go wrong, but you can still make it a h 100 different ways. I don’t know. I’ve had I’ve made two really cool putts and I remember being over them. I had mass faith that I I read it right. I had mass faith that that I aimed it right. And when I got over that putt, I said, “Then justing hit the ball, like hit it.” And I don’t know if that’s right, but like that going through your head, at least you make better strokes. But the idea, the thought, all jokes aside, the thought that I putt it too good. Like I don’t I I get that thought process, but that making that a negative is psychotic. That’s psychotic. Yeah, but we ask. You’re saying I’m a great putter that won’t make ever make a putt. That’s that’s like that’s where it nets to zero. Whereas Sam’s saying he doesn’t think he has the best stroke or whatever, but he’s a great putter. There’s a difference. Making putts makes you a great putter. rolling it end over end does not make I think what we mean is that we are good in the act of the putt but we’re not good putters in the result of the putters you work on like aim and reading and I don’t even practice that’s what I’m saying so then how can you I mean this is two this is one variable of like a lot speed matters that’s where practice helps these are novel concepts practice but we’ll still get angry at not being good enough genuinely have never heard anyone say what matches frame it that way. Yeah. Like like it’s just accept that you’re not going to hit a perfect putt every time. And it’s just cuz putting for me it’s just like you’re just guessing. There is a lot of guessing when grain is involved. I love people like I read grain grain. It’s like no you do. You have no idea if you read grain great because you can’t watch yourself putt and you can start like little offline. If you if you mass if you have perfect speed, you can up by inches and it’ll be fine. Hearing Max just like lay it out as to why. And like the fact that a million things can go wrong and it can still end up in the right place is actually so freeing.
