The venue in north Dublin is owned by Canada’s Northland Properties

The Portmarnock Resort and Jameson Golf Links saw revenues rise to €14.2m from €12.8m in 2023
The Portmarnock Resort & Jameson Golf Links in Dublin, which is owned by Canada’s Northland Properties, saw its profits fall almost 30pc to €375,000 last year despite an increase in revenue.
Newly-filed accounts for the company that operates the premises, formerly known as the Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links, show that revenue rose to €14.2m last year from €12.8m in 2023.
In 2019, Kennedy Wilson sold property in north Dublin for €50m to family-owned Northland Properties. Kennedy Wilson had bought the hotel in 2014 for €27m and spent €11m refurbishing the venue.
Since it bought the property, Northland has significantly invested in it.
The golf course was originally designed by German golfer Bernhard Langer more than 30 years ago. However, it was redesigned by Irish golfing architect Jeff Lynch after the Canadian group bought the property.
The resort and golf course were rebranded in 2023 and the venue has just launched an international membership programme that is open to people living outside Ireland.
The golf course is unconnected to the private Portmarnock Golf Club, although the two courses are on the same sandy peninsula at the seaside town.
Its immediate parent company is registered in Barbados
The Portmarnock Resort and Jameson Golf Links includes an ancestral home of the Jameson family linked to the eponymous whiskey brand that is now part of the stable of French drinks giant Pernod Ricard. John Jameson’s grandson moved to Portmarnock in 1847.
The accounts for the company behind the venue show that it employed an average of 143 people last year and paid just under €4m in wages and salaries.
Its immediate parent company is registered in Barbados.
Vancouver-based Northland Properties, founded by Bob Gaglardi and headed by chief executive Tom Gaglardi, owns a raft of hospitality businesses.
It controls the master franchise in Canada for diner chain Denny’s, and its assets also include ski runs, ice hockey teams and hotels across Canada.
Northland is continuing to invest in its Portmarnock property. The venue recently applied for planning permission to build an outdoor swimming pool.
“The swimming pool area has been sensitively located to ensure minimal visual impact and to integrate with the existing character of the resort,” note planners for the project.
“The proposed facilities are designed to enhance the amenity offering of the hotel, providing a high-quality leisure feature that complements the existing accommodation and golf course amenities and add to the continued investment in the overall hotel and golf course facilities.”
