When I was a kid I would go golfing with my dad every other week during the summer and I didn't even know what a gimmie was, imagine my surprise when at 18 I go golf with some friends for the first time and they're asking for a gimmie on every hole 😂 I was like "Wtf a gimmie is just skipping the last put? That's like setting up a row of dominoes just to NOT watch them fall???" so anytime they asked I was like "Naw just hit it in and enjoy the sound of your boy reaching home" and now we never play with gimmies 😅
I have never understood gimmes – the whole point of the game is to get the ball in the hole. Pace of play argument is BS it takes 5 seconds to put it in from a foot. Just do it 🤣
