Hey guys, in today’s lesson video, I’m going to describe and show you guys how I could hit my driver over 300 yards. And everyone has a different starting point, but I think everyone has the potential to get their distance to go up and their club speed to go up as well. So, the first thing I want to talk about is a weight shift. Most everyday golfers because we want to hit up on a driver, they think that we cannot shift our weight forward with our driver. But I’m going to um show you guys why we do have to shift our weight forward. And I would argue with the driver, we have to shift our weight even more farther forward because we want to swing this object and throw this club as far out forward as much as possible. So, if we want a weight shift, what we have to understand is that for an iron, we’re shifting our weight into our lead side, covering the golf ball. And from here, we might even cover the golf ball even more. But for our driver, what you want to understand is because just because we want to hit up on the golf ball, staying back on our right foot and dropping our right shoulder and trying to hit up on it, that’s the last thing we want. Because as soon as we keep all our pressure still remaining in our trail side, we have no power to work with because we have nothing to kick off of. So every other sport, whether it’s soccer, we’re kicking a ball, we step and shift all our weight into our lead side. If we’re throwing a punch, just throwing a punch going backwards is not as powerful as taking a step forward and throwing a punch. So every powerful move in any other sport, we have to get into our lead side. But in order to get all of our weight into our lead side while still hitting up on the golf ball, we have to kick off of our lead side. So what I mean by that is that once we go to the top of our back swing, once we get all of our weight into our lead foot, now the reason why we want to get all of our weight into our lead side is so we could have something to kick off of. Because if I want to throw this golf club as far out towards the target as possible, because that’s all we’re trying to do. We’re not trying to make contact with the golf ball. We’re just trying to make a really good throwing motion. I would never throw the golf club from the top of my back swing with just my arms because that’s not as powerful because I’m not using my big muscles. I’m not using my body and who knows where the golf club is going to go. And I would never try to just try to stay on my back foot and throw the club as well. What I would try to do is is that I would try to get all of my weight into my lead side and that’ll help the golf club fall down into the slot as well because everything’s connected. Everything’s a chain reaction. If my lower body starts to race the higher object because my whole body is the spiral effect because everything’s connected together. If my lower body leads the race starts down, then the golf club will fall to around halfway down. Then from this position, what I’ll try to do is I’ll try to kick away from the target while the object that’s lagging behind my club is thrown forward. So we want to use our body very well. And that’s why we want to shift all of our weight into our lead side. So what I would try to recommend is that if we get all of our weight into our lead side from this position, don’t be afraid to get all of our weight into our lead side because we’re going to get rid of this and unweigh oursel anyway. So, we want to get all of our weight into our lead side with our driver and then we want to kick back and away from the target while we throw the club head and the club towards the target. So, a good way to practice this is to grab a golf club and place it at a slight 45°ree angle. As you can see here, then from this position, we’re going to go top of my back swing. We’re going to shift our weight. So, from the down line view, we’re going to shift our weight at a diagonal angle. So, if I get into a full turn position, all my pressure from my right heel is going to shift into the my left balls of my feet. So, it’s almost at this 45°ree angle. I’m going to shift my weight into the left balls of my feet. I’m kind of over exaggerating for the camera, but shift your weight into the left balls of your feet. Then, from this position, we’re going to kick back and away in the line of this alignment mistake or this golf club. So, what we want to notice is that I’m not just kicking back. I’m kicking back and away from the target. And that’s going to allow myself to open up as well. So in the down swing, we have to shift all of our weight into our lead side. And then we’re going to kick off of this lead leg. And another practice I really did to get my um club head speed to continuously go up. And even if I’m not warmed up, I could still get to around like 114, 115 without a problem. We need a lot of training with our lead leg because yes, we might go to the gym, we might squat with both legs, but we’re still for a especially for a right-handed person, we’re not used to using our lead leg, our left leg. So, what I’ll recommend is that go to the top of your back position. And if you can at the gym, do a lot of um isolation work. If you could just do like lunges with just your left leg with your um right leg on like a um bench behind you, that’ll be really good as well. What I would try to do is I would try to get all of your weight into your left side into the left balls of your feet. And when you kick back, try to do it with all of your um muscles from your left side, none from your right side. And I will try to like slightly lift up my right leg as well. I’ll try to do this motion right here. I know it looks really funny, really goofy. So, I’ll try to do this like by myself at my house, but that’s what we have to do to really feel like we’re pushing off with our lead side. We don’t want to push so much with our right side because who most likely for a right-handed golfer, we’re going to push too early and we’re going to shove our hips towards the golf ball. So, what we want to do is want to shift all the weight into our lead side and then learn how to push off of this. And it’s an overexaggeration drill. So, we’re going to unwe we’re going to unweigh our right foot while we do this and feel it all in my left side. And that’s the force and that’s the feel that you need. And of course, we want to do that at that away from the target at that angle. And the next thing we want to understand is that the golf club always has to move towards the opposite side of my body. So for example, I’m going to show you guys what I mean just from a straight vertical up and down motion. So what I mean by that is that if my body is bent over, I’m going to bend over a little bit more than I’m used to just for this drill. If I’m bent over and if this golf club is up here, if the golf club is coming down, I want my body to move in the opposite direction. So if my body is extending upwards, I want the golf club to unload in the opposite direction. I don’t want to get my force of my body and the golf club to move in the same direction. Same direction, same direction. This is not what I want. I want the golf club and my body to move in opposite direction. So let’s start from just a straight up and down position first. So, what I’m going to do is start with the golf club in a good loaded position just in front of my body and get your upper body to bend over a little bit more than you’re used to. So, you can really feel the difference. So, what I want you to do is extend your body up hard as if we’re just doing like a deadlift. Extend, thrust up hard, but our club is going to move in the opposite direction. So, it’s going to look something like this. Our hands and our club, we’re just going to unload all the angles coming down, but we’re going to do it in the opposite motion. So, my body’s standing up and the club is going down. So, we’re moving in opposite direction. So, it’s going one more time. It’s going to look something like this. Bend over a little bit more than you’re used to. And then when you’re extending up, club is going to come down. And of course, our driver swing, it’s not just straight up and down, but if you feel this motion, I guarantee you’re going to feel what it feels like to create the force in opposite directions. In opposite direction. That’s what we want to do. So now if it’s a driver, it’s the same type of motion, but notice how once we shift our weight forward and now we’re kicking back and away from the target. If I kick back and away from the target, and if my club moves in the same direction as my body, it’s very hard to create that effortless speed because we’re not cracking the whip. What we want to notice is that once my body is, let’s just say, kicking away from the golf ball, now I want my club to move towards the golf ball. If my body is kicking away from the golf ball, I want the club to unccock towards the golf ball. So, whatever direction my body is moving in, I want to uncock the golf club. Uncock, it’s not casting. If it happens from the beginning, it might be casting, but that same casting motion, we need towards the golf ball to crack the whip. So, uncock the golf club in the opposite direction of where your body moves. So, if my body moves up, unclock your wrist down. If my body moves back, unccog your golf club forward. So, we have to learn how to unccog and let go of all the energy that we have in all the angles away from my body. Away from my body because you never see a good um driver of the golf ball getting into a cramped position at impact. Everyone is getting into this position where everything’s far away. So, just like the drill where we ended up in using our forces in opposite directions, that’s what we have to do on a little bit more of a level plane with with the driver, not just straight up and down, but if I get into this position right here, all my way into my lead side, and now I want to kick away from the the target at that 45 degree angle, I should be uncocking my wrist towards that 45 degree angle. So, we have to move in opposite directions. And I think using the opposite forces is going to really allow us to get our speed and our distance to that next level. So really practice the club coming down, my body coming up, body and the club moving opposite directions, opposite directions, opposite directions, and I guarantee we’re going to have a lot more success. 1. Excellent presentation and explanation – makes sense – thank you i will definitely be working on this at the range

  2. I want to thank you for your videos. I started with my drives carrying 230 yards, with a couple years of practice, and your videos, I'm now able to carry my driver 280yards when my body is moving correctly. I also just turned 50 yrs. And am hitting it longer than I ever have. Thanks again!

  3. Hmm. Ok. Great visual along with an explanation. I definitely do nit do this. The left leg part should be easy since thats my dominant leg. Play righty.

  4. Thanks….just lost 2 balls in the far niebors field….farthest I've ever hit a damn sand wedge! You owe me 2 balls..ha……thanks again great vid

  5. Wow, the concept and drill starting @6:30 made a huge difference with my driver swing/ball contact. I was constantly getting stuck or cramped trying to avoid “early extension” and not able to deliver all the clubhead speed I could have. Thanks so much.

  6. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
You said, “really funny and goofy.” Not at all! I have been searching for years to unlock my full potential with an athletic swing that is properly sequenced and feels effortless. I’ve played many sports throughout my life and Golf has been the most difficult getting to a competitive level. Your explanation and practice drills just connected my golf brain (slow & confused) to my athletic reactionary brain! My entire lifetime of playing soccer just showed up in my golf swing. It feels like a happy Gilmore swing minus running up to the ball…. 😆
Thank you so much for the great knowledge and content!!! Time to do some left leg lunges and dust off the kettlebell. 🙌🏼

  7. Kevin, thank you for all your videos. You are so very helpful trying! However, I cannot execute this jumping motion while swinging – I do not even understand how this is possible. Jumping up takes much longer than swinging the club.
