A child has tragically died after a wall collapsed on him at a golf centre.
A five-year-old boy has died and a six-year-old girl was injured on Sunday evening (November 9).
Eyewitnesses say the pair were at a birthday party when tragedy struck. Police, paramedics and a doctor were called to the busy attraction at around 5.40pm amid reports a child had been hurt, MyLondon reports.
The young boy was taken to hospital in a serious condition following the horror incident at Family Golf in Sidcup, London/ He sadly died two days later (November 11). The girl has been discharged from hospital.
An investigation involving the Metropolitan Police and Local Health and Safety Inspector is underway, and enquiries are ongoing.
In a statement, Family Golf said: “We are deeply saddened to hear that the child injured on Sunday has tragically passed away. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the child’s family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
“We are co-operating fully with the authorities as they continue their investigation and are providing every possible support to those affected by this tragedy.”
Family Golf contains two dinosaur-themed crazy golf courses and a driving range, and is a popular spot for families and amateur golfers alike. It is currently unclear which part of the building the collapse happened in.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told MyLondon: “Police were called at 17:44hrs on Sunday, 9 November to a business premises on Sidcup By-Pass, Chislehurst to reports a child had been injured by a collapsing wall. Officers attended and paramedics were treating a five-year-old boy.
“He was taken to hospital by the London Air Ambulance in a life-threatening condition. Sadly, he died in hospital on Tuesday, 11 November.
“His family are being supported by specialist officers and ask for privacy during this difficult time.”
