He Beat Tiger Woods… But Can He Beat Golfmates
Right, golf mates, welcome down to another video. Today you’re in for a treat. I’m taking on not one, not two, but three time European tour winner. He’s also playing the Masters. He’s also played in the British Open. Caveat, he has led the Masters. Who is it? It’s the one and only MBE himself, Derek Wolston home. And I’m going to take him on a ninehole match off scratch. If they get to the seventh hole, I’m taking that as a moral half. They get to eight, it’s a victory in my head. But yeah, I’m going to take him off scratch. I’m off now. He’s a professional. I’m 47. He’s 65. He’s been saying he should be getting shots. I’m getting I said get stuffed cuz he’s been playing golf a lot longer than me. I’ll probably ask him a few questions as well and we might even get a tip from him. Enjoy this unbelievable video. So enjoy this video, golf mates, at the stunning Caris Green. Right, Gary, I’ve just explained to everyone I’ve told everyone our age gap of 17 years. I’ve told them you’re an MBE. I’ve probably absolutely butchered your name, so I’ve done it twice. Gary Wolfston Home. Wolfston Home. Absolutely. Right. That’s really You don’t know what I’ve called in the foot. Wolf time. I’ve had walking home. I’ve got all sorts. No, I’ve got it right. Told them you’ve led the Masters. We’ll get into that maybe. But it’s a n match. And off this course, I do get nine shots. So, if I were playing you in a n match, I’ve just seen you on the range. Half a nine is four and a half. I’d get five. I’m going to we’re going to go scratch four. No scratch. Scratch. But there’s a caveat. Oh, if I get to the six or seventh hole, if I get to the seventh, seven, yeah, I’m going to class it as a half. All square in my head. Yeah. A moral half. If we get to the eighth, in my stupid head, I’m going to class it as a win. If he could get to ninth, well, that’ be a miracle, won’t it? Well, I’ve got a new driver and everything today, so I’m not sure exactly how they’re all going to go. Haven’t used them on the course yet at all. First, I’ve just seen you on the range. Splitting posts. Splitting post. How are we putting them in other places? So, golf, enjoy this car. Pass 76,000 y. We’re in Barabilla. Yes. Hello. I’m talking to the sheep now, not anybody else. Oh, sorry. Right, Gary. Good luck. Let’s have a good giggle. Yeah. 270 yards. Isn’t that beautiful? It is. What a great looking hole. You know, it’s funny cuz when Graeme was first redesigning the golf course, he visualized this and I visualized a right to left dog leg where the the green was down, you know, just past those trees. and uh he’s turned out absolutely to have produced, you know, one of the the better golf holes on the golf course. It’s not long. Doesn’t have to be. The second shot, is it where I’m struggling, but we’ve just had a little lesson. We’re not going to say anything. Yeah. Let’s see if I can learn. Right. What you eating, Gary? I’m eating fivewood. And the reason is that obviously there’s not a great deal of run on the ball. Uh it’s cool, so the ball’s not really flying. So, you want to give yourself a nice yardage into the hole, especially on a hole where the flag’s invariably quite tricky to get at. Uh, a bit easier at the moment because it’s soft, but uh, it’s still one of those shots that you want to hit a fuller shot rather than a half shot. So, that’s why I’m hitting a fivewood. Great strike. Not lost it, have you? No, it’s Well, no, I haven’t lost the ball, you mean? Yeah. Yeah. No, the ball’s okay. That’s nothing wrong with that, mate. No, it was all right. It was a little bit skinny. So, is that okay, Gary? Yeah. Perfect. Wonderful. Now then, come on. So, what are you hitting? Four. Four. Perfect. Just I don’t think it matters here. You get half a connection. You’re going to Yeah, that’s what I’ve done there. I didn’t hit that particularly well, but uh it it’s uh it’s on the fairway. Gives me a chance to place it, etc., etc. So, come on. Nice rhythm. Soft hands. Oh, it’s nice, isn’t it? And you’re masquerading off nine, did you tell me? Uh, 7.9, but I get nine here, I think. All right. Ei dodgy this. Told you. I told him on the rage. Come here. So, basically today, right, you’ve got nothing to gain and everything to lose. It’s that easy, is it? Well, there’s no excuses, Gary. We’ve actually warmed up. Yes, we played one all and we’ve been on the driving range. So, there were no excuses here, were there? Yeah, there’s always an excuse. It’s golf. Yeah, I’m full of them. It’s a variety of your excuse. That’s always very good. So, I’ve just told everyone the calorie. Now, we’re going to make it very quick. Yes or no? Did you lead the masters? I did. Simple as that. That you take to your grave. There is a caveat. You were pushed out. No. Not quite, but uh I teed off at I think about 10:20 and uh I was uh leader after nine holes. So you weren’t lead after first. You were lead after nine. Nine. But we but we stick with that. And I was three in the par having boged the first. So that’s not And I’ll tell you something about Augusta. What you don’t know. The first stall is tricked up. It’s always an extra cut. So it’s different than the so nobody rips it apart. Well, it’s to it’s to I I think there is an element that the green keeper has a mis a mischievous um side. Oh, definitely. They call it triple freaky. Triple freaky. Triple freaky. The first green and it’s just to put people off slightly cuz um just throw you off, doesn’t it? Yeah, it does. Definitely. It’s a masses at end of day. It’s the greatest tournament in the world. Second, the open. I know which one I’d rather win. I’d rather win my Sunday medal with that. So, do you know what 95 is then, Gary? For me, well, it’s in between. Of course, it is, but I can’t 56 95. Yeah. Go up a club because um if you’re in between, the flag’s towards the front. So, that the the killer shot is the short shot. Yeah. So, you always go slightly long. Then you can swing slightly smoother. Now you’ve given yourself actually a really good angle in. You’ve given yourself a nice yardage. So it’s it I know it’s in between clubs, but actually you’re setting me up to fail here. Really? Look. No, no, no, no. I think you’ve got a good good place here now. Yeah, there’s a small bit of wind. I think it’s a normal shot with this. I probably is cuz it’s cool. I’ll take that. Oh, well, it’s on the green. Only just Oh, nearly. Oh, I mean, very not bad. Just I still don’t think you’re quite looking at the ball. Okay. But do you know some it sounds terrible Gary? I have been with this. I’ll actually take that. Yeah, I’ll take it. Worst part of me gain at the moment. 80 yards, 100 yards. Great wedge player, Gary. No, he should be getting these stiff, you know. Talk about sliming people up for the four. See how he likes it. There’s two can play at this game. Yeah. Okay. It’s the same thought really. I just want to get a good rhythm. Keep the hands nice and soft. Try and get it down the line. Have you got a 56? Well, this is actually um a 52. 52. But because I have that ability to be able to take speed off or whatever. You won’t want spin here, would you? No, you don’t. And the other side of it, my most lofted club is 55, right? So, this is my next most lofted club. Now, the 55 probably isn’t going to comfortably get there. So, I’m better off hitting this. Anyway, we’ll see how this goes. Well, I’ve just pushed it a little bit cuz I caught spin left or that. Uh, no. You see, cuz you took the spin off cuz that could have zipped back. Distance control is good. I just It was a little bit thin and that whenever you catch it slightly thin, invariably that means it’s gone off to the right. or obviously long in your case over here going that way. Told you I was getting old. What’s your choice? I’ve got pitching wedge and I think if I’m being really honest cuz it’s slightly uphill. I think the pitching wedge will go like a 56 and I think I can hit this nearly 3/4 of the way right now. That’s what I’m thinking. Right. Okay. and toe up to me. Um I’m looking at this from the side. So because the ball’s below the green, the tendency will be that the ball will roll out a bit more. Yes. Cuz it’s getting less loft. If you’re above the green and you have some loft, it will come in steeper. So it’ll land softer. So now because you’re below the level of the green halfway and looking I’m looking at about here with that particular club. Now, one of the things that I’m a big advocate of is actually visualizing the shot that you want to play. So, in other words, well, I did visualize it, but now I’m gonna change my visualization. Now, you’ve got to be looking at that and then keeping the hands nice and soft, bringing the left hand forward. Don’t let it pass in front of the leading edge of the club. So, soft and easy. Keep your eyes on the ball. Very, very good. Very good. That’s excellent. Don’t know what I’m doing this for because I’m going to lose at this rate. Don’t worry about that, Gary. Match play. Yes, you can have that if you like. Okay. Why are you dodgy on those? No, no, no. It’s just bending down with your back. You know, the back’s all I wish you were like your back. All elastic. Yeah. Really? So, it’s 17 years younger than me. You’ve been playing golf a lot longer than me. That’s true. That’s true. Well, that’s where I I didn’t start till 28 after playing football. Well, I I was um I was I started when I was four uh up at Grangefell Golf Club. Oh, so maybe I should have got a shot or two. You’ve been playing over 55 years. I have. 60. So 60 years. Well, don’t be calling. No morning here. Yeah, but I didn’t start playing handicap golf cuz I was 23 handicap at 18 back in the day. Back in the day. No. No, 35 handicapped 18 though, right? Come on, birdie. It’ be nice, wouldn’t it? Trying to visualize the putt. So, get it set up high over the ball. Great roll. No, had to give it a go. Yeah. Go on, Greg. You can have that, G. Same as mine. Oh, thank you. I’m fairly good on that. Oh, right. Half. Oh, dear. How many did you say you had to get to? Seven and then eight. Seven for a moral half. Right. So half in four on the first. Love this hole. 482 par five. It’s cold. There’s going to be no run with a Jew. Little robots on his way. Yeah. Little robots. Not getting on two today, are we? No. Um Yeah. There’s no wind to help you. And it’s cool. But uh it’s clever designed this now with the pond on the right and then the bunker on the left and it’s staggered so it gives everyone an opportunity. But um if you just try and find the fairway here fairway finder, right? Great drive. Just dragged it. I like that hover. There’s no figure. No, it’s not great. But it’s okay. Par five. It’s one of them though that you can accept it just because you weren’t getting there in two. No. And um to be honest, yes. Okay. I want to hit the shots as well as I can, but early you’re not really expecting too many things. I said this obviously you play I’ve done so many years cadding and I was trying to say when I did a video about you like breaking 90. Yes. Even the best professionals in the world, they’ll come off the course and in the red they’ve only hit 10 perfect shots. Well, probably not even that. The ones the 10 that they’d be genuinely happy with. Yeah. Um I would Yeah, I’d say that’s about right because um depends on how good their round was. But these elite golfers, what I’m trying to say for people trying to break scores and bet the score, don’t get worked up if you’re not it out of the middle. No. Well, golf’s not a game about perfect. It’s about sometimes um scoring despite your C game. So, rhythm. It’s all about rhythm. Now that let me tell you nice shot. If we swapped who’d hit the shots I think I would have been deliriously happy. You can buy. So is that one of your 10? Is this what we’re telling me? Yeah. But I’m there for one. Same as you. There’s no shots. That’s a nice one, was it? It was beautiful. New driver. Honestly, I’m miles better than this than the old one. But everyone watching knows. And the shaft. The shaft’s a good one as well. It goes. Yeah. Well, let me tell you, not today. Was a nice one that that was good. First one was good on the practice hole. Yes, I’ll take that. Well, the amateurs off nine has outdriven me by 40 yards. 7.8. All right. 7.8. So, I’ve got a tree in the way. Not ideal. So, all I’m trying to do now is get myself back in play. Now, the interesting thing about this is regardless of uh the length of the hole, the actual shot is sometimes to take a wood or a metal um to keep it underneath the tree and still get a reasonable amount of distance. So, I’m not trying to hit flat out because um that’s not necessarily going to help me because it will elevate still. So, what I’m trying to do now, we are playing lift cleaning players through the green, Gary. Yeah, I’m not I’m not going to because I think that’s it’s not the way I’ve got a reasonably good line anyway. Um, so all I’m trying to do now is get the ball back in my stance and then just try and put a little bit of draw on it just to get me back in play. Okay, I’m I’m probably going to finish up with actually to be honest I could probably hit three-wood. Um, in fact, I’m going to do that because I’m just realized if I leave myself too much in so I’ve changed my mind, but I’m allowed to do that. That’s the good thing. You got I’ll put your foot. It’s not It’s not like tennis where unfortunately you can’t really change your mind. It’s a big game. It’s very important in the history of your golf. three wood. And I’m just going to punch it under the tree with a little bit of draw. Love it. Everything you said. Draw always gets run, doesn’t it? And it always gets a bit of run. So, actually, I’ve not really lost a great deal. Uh the only problem is you’re probably going to plant one on the middle of the green now. No. No. What do you mean no? Not with a seven iron. A seven iron. Don’t go too. Why are you hitting seven iron, Joe Miller? I’m getting worried now. Do you know that? I’m actually genuinely getting worried. What about losing this match? Gross. You won’t lose this match to me. God, I’ve had a lucky ass. Look at that. Is that beautiful? Yes. Robots are flat. This drives uh this drive gone really well, has it? You think? Let me tell you. In this conditions actually that is gone absolute really. Can’t wait for his reaction to this. This is a belt to this. Right. I haven’t got a fivewood. It’s a club what you’ve never heard of. I you’ve been playing golf now. 50. Yeah. 60 years. 61 years. This is a 35wood. I’ve heard of that. It’s a fivewood shaft and a freewood head. So we don’t know how far it’s gone. Can I tell you something? I would far rather you got a fivewood and put a three-wood shaft in than a 3-wood with a fivewood shaft. I am different. I mean, I’ve never tested it. I’m just mentally in me head this works for me. Let me tell you, everybody’s different. That’s the beauty of the game. Well, I’m not going to get there. What do you reckon? It’s 260. No. God, I think you can get there. I think I think it’s only about 230. I think you can get there. Just keep it smooth. Like we said on the tea, rhythm. Oh, I tell you what. Oh, fattered it. But it should be all right. It’s okay though. Is it? Yeah. Sorry. What handicap are you? Did you say 7.8? Par five. Nearly on. Nearly on the front. Not quite, but No, I think it’s about 30 yards off. It’s 30 yards short. Yeah. Of the front edge. It’s not bad, is it? You want to get one of these 35? Maybe you would have won five times with the season. It’s a future like garlic bread. I’m from B. No. Garlic bread. Garlic. Yeah. A little bit heavy, but to be fair, it’s a mental thing. I feel like a can. Yeah. And that’s and the shorter shafts. Funny enough, Luke Donald went down to what did he do? 40 40 42 in shaft for a driver. It’s like seven woods. Water pros are hitting seven woods now instead of rescues, aren’t they? They are. Right. All right. This is going to be a wedge off. Don’t get this on camera. I’m cleaning these balls. Yes, exactly. Thank you. As long as you’re not sucking them, that’s all right. Right. Here we go. So, I’m thinking actually along similar lines to the last hole. 52. go down to my 52, which again is uh it’s it’s probably a bit too much, but I’m not intending to hit it flat out. And I’ve got to get it over the ridge, which we’ll see obviously when we get up to the green. There is a little bit, isn’t it? Yeah. Uh so that’s quite important. So I could hit my my lob wedge. Of course I could. But I think the 50 with a just a little open face. Well, you’re hitting 50. Yeah. Well, it’s a 52. I’ I’ve got my 50 at 52. So, just open the face a little bit. It’s very nearly a lob wedge, but I just feel as though it’s far easier for me to just uh hit a 3/4 shot. Okay. So, I got my visualize what I’m trying to achieve and then keep the club face slightly open and then nice rhythm. done that before. Look at the grin on that. Quite I was quite pleased with that. Hey, that’s called firing a dart, isn’t it? Well, let me tell you, just put a little pressure on you. Oh, have you? I’m going to ask you a quick question. You know that cuz you’re playing with me and obviously you’re telling us what you’re doing. Do you think that helps with your visual? Definitely. And I do try and do this on the golf course. Gary, it. What you talking to me? I forgot all the Oh, I was wondering where he was going. You could tell he’s almost lo I was thinking I better get down there with I never even thought about it. You know that senior moment? Yeah. I’ve just had one. Is that a senior moment? Well, I’m not used to driving. You’re driving. There you go. Right, you’re here now. I I’ll I’ll I’ll You’ve got your club, your ball clean. This is actually quite a hard shot. It is because you’ve got to get it past that flat, aren’t you? 43. You’re not going to like Oh, I’ve got it in me head playing this run shot. Just get it over the bunker. A lowest club and let it run. Yeah. Well, when you say lowest club, well, like a pitching wedge. Yeah. I would go one up on that. Nine. Uh, no, the other way. Oh, sorry. It’s a weak pitching wedge. It’s like a gut. All right. Okay, that’s fine. Yeah, I’ve got no problem with that cuz the greens are good here. They’re really good. So, they’re firm enough to allow you to be able to play this shot. But it is literally Yeah. feeling as though you’re getting it past those stakes by about I don’t know three or four yards and it will then run up cuz flying it all the way is just a hard shot. No, it’s a hard shot to get right. starts had a bounce behind it. That’s a Well, it sort of did, but you that you’re actually not that far away. You’re only about 10 ft. But I think if I hit that another inch forward, yeah, it wouldn’t have bounced behind the bunker as fast. I think I’ll take that all day. Well, I would that but that’s one of the reasons why I was saying the next wedge down as in to nearer to your lob wedge would have been better. Okay. No, it was we’re a good shot. You can be really crit critical of yourself, can’t you? Well, I am, but that’s uh that’s what drives me on. Right. So, actually, this is a really tough pin. It is because uh there’s just that little downs slope just here that just took this took my shot further away. Well, we’re nearly in November and these are mint, aren’t they? I can’t tell you. So many courses would give their right arm to have We’ll see on camera how lush it is as well. Yeah. Right. So I’m gonna have it out. Oh, you like that. Are you an in or an out? Oh, I’m an outy. Yeah. Good. But with my belly button, I’m an innie. So this is match player situation this isn’t it? It certainly is. Especially as I’m going to be eagle eyeing your uh your putt. Oh, pushed it. I was giggling to myself then because I fancied it. You’ve told me absolutely nothing. So I have to go through my whole process now. Do you know what? Honestly, I was laughing. You know, you think you’re going to make I felt I was going to make it. And in me, I’m laughing thinking I’m going to You know what I would do just before taking a shot? You weren’t looking at the ball. No, I’m going to make this and he’s going to flip. So my concentration levels was about zero. Yes. But that doesn’t it doesn’t really help. No, but my fun factor of it were brilliant. I’m actually giggling. I enjoyed it. Good birdie, sir. All set up by the approach shot. By the wonderful drive. Proves all, doesn’t it? It proves it like you said, doesn’t it? Right. And one down, but I didn’t make a good attempt in my birdie put you down too much. And I’ve got two par. I’ll take that. Do you know I did fancy my P. It’s a terrible but I think Well, he got so excited. You had a look. Ste was the problem. You had a look. I will say that’s a great birdie. Thank you. Uh I say I will Oh, bit of wind now. Oh, par five. There’s a bit of a breeze. In fact, we’ve got par five, par three, par five on. Yeah, it it’s it’s an interesting part of the golf course this because this is your scoring part of the course because there’s enough hard holes out here that you’ve got to try and capitalize on the I still say back N’s harder than front N. I do too by a mile. But I think that was designed right 465 yard. Yeah, which is going to be playing more like 180 uh 485. Yeah, there is a we can see with the smoke coming into us. Yeah, there’s a little bit of breeze, but again, it’s not one that Okay, the bigger hitters can get there in two, but we should get over the bunker from here, shouldn’t we? Or is that in play? It’s in play for me, not for you. The way you just hit that last one. Every blind squirrel find one of them nuts. The bomber. Yeah. All right. We’re going to get that stitched on the back of you. A bit like the boxers do. You know, kamicazi bomber. Yes. Oh. looking up too soon. I’ve got the little cooks going. Oh, it’s all right. It’s fine. It’s fine. I mean, again, I’m lucky because um there is a breeze as well, though. There is a bit of breeze. That wasn’t good. Never mind. No arm there, is there? No. Not with your wedge player. Well, that’s uh very kind of you. Tell you what, it was a little bit late, but that’s beautiful. Should run, shouldn’t it? That has run a long way. She’s still running. Do you know the joke on that one, don’t you? It’s running like a sailor’s willie. So, what what do you off? Oh, I hope we can edit that out for God’s sake. My mother will be Should we go? I thought it was a funny one that you are trying to keep a straight face car. I don’t know why you let it out. Well, I had to think about what you were talking about. It threw you off, didn’t it? It twiged. I did twig. It threw you off a bit. Ever so slightly. Yes. I wasn’t expecting it. Let’s say that. That’s a eBay Pete one. eBay. I’m not surprised. Redly. So, what you said there were what I mean. I’m happy with that. Obviously, it’s a bit low and runny. Yeah. It It’s basically got it a little bit low um off the face. On the face. Yeah. So it comes out like a stinger. Now there’s nothing wrong with that. And actually into the wind. That was a perfect shot because also I wasn’t expecting it to really run out like it did. You’ve hit a great drive there to the extent where you can actually reach. Oh, without a shadow doubt where I am there now. I’m going to have a little conversation with myself. Well, I think you should do cuz you might need to mate birdie for Oh, he’s competitive juices are here. He’s coming for it. Not me. I didn’t say that. I know a lot of people would be going for this just to get it over the water, but I I can’t see the point. So, all I’m trying to do is just like a a little 3/4 seven iron. And I’m just going to uh pitch it down there and then rely on the short game again. Hopefully. Are you going on the right hand side? Because obviously that pin looks like it’s back left. You got it. I’m just going down the right hand side because hopefully I’m trying to keep it on the fairway. But with the water on the left hand side, there’s no option. And the fact that uh yes, that’s a double bonus. Is it? It’s a double bonus if the flag’s on the left. And so you’re not thinking ahead. You’re thinking more of I am thinking ahead usually. Uh but in this particular instance, I don’t have an option. Right. So there’s no point me hitting, you know, like a a wedge and just getting it down the left to give myself a shot into the right. I just want the shorter shot in. So I’m just going to literally just pop it down. Yeah. Good swing. Okay. It it’s it’s a a bit of a iffy buty swing, but that’s fine. And what it does is it gets me into a position where I can play a shot into the flag hopefully with a wedge. What you’re very good at. Well, usually I’m having a go. You’ve got to cuz I think I You’ve only got about 180 yards. I think so. Yeah. I can’t maybe And I can’t see the point of not going for it because even your worst shot, even with your worst shot, you’re getting over the water. You’ve got to basically play odds. Yeah. So, your percentage shot is anything over the water. Now, okay, if you go in the trap, that’s not good either. So, personally, I’d be looking at that um five threewood with a fivewood. I’ve got my seven, but I think my seven would go to about 200. Well, and it’s cold though, but I think No, seven would I think club I’ve got no problem with that cuz it’s an easier club to hit anyway. Yeah, I think seven would. But I think the tactically tactically I think I’m going to aim at the bunker. I think that’s the line. Just keep the rhythm. That’s the most important thing. Rhythm and timing. Okay, that’s safe. Is it? Yeah. Yeah. So, you’ve left yourself actually quite a nice shot. The chip should be But it’s McKenzie like it’s a chip and run. It’s a chip run. I’m going to say it. Go on. I think you’re going to win this hole. No, I actually think the right club were the other club. Well, I did say, but I didn’t want to contradict you cuz you know your game better than me. Well, I am a tour winning caddy. I might not have won, but and that’s a fact. Hey, so really if you put your four wins and mine, five wins on the European tour here. Five wins. 120. Yeah. And that’s not good. And there’s a small snow breeze. Why do I feel you’re going to hit the baby nine? Funny enough, you’re absolutely right. Am I? Yeah. N. So, look this cat. It’s cold. It’s It’s a dead isn’t it? Yeah, it is. And again, I’m I’ve got to rely on this is maybe I’m I’m thinking I’m No, no, no. Well, I’ve I’ve got options. So, I could hit I could actually even hit an eight on, but um I’m going to hit I’m going to hit nine because I still think you’ve got quite a hard up and down there. She’s drawing in. It’s got to go. You just got the McKenzie. Just wanted another F. Couple of feet. Yeah. It weren’t that bad, were it? No, it wasn’t It wasn’t too bad. It It’s It’s probably a yard shy of where I would have liked it. And obviously I’m going for the draw. It’s It’s not. Was Was that the shot? No, not really. But anyway, we will see. It still doesn’t discount me from making the putt. Doesn’t. So, don’t feel as though you’ve got this in the bag just yet. Oh, I never feel never not with my chip. I tell you what. Oh, we’re both going to drive up together, are we? Yes. You come with me. I won’t forget the buggy this time. No, don’t. Sorry. Have you got that 30 quid the last length you last time I played with you? Have you remembered that? No. You’ve got to visualize the shot. Now, if I were you, I’ll be even tempted to walk up to the front edge of the green to see the shot. So, as we walk up here, God, I would have never have done that. No, but most people don’t. And obviously, there’s an element of speed in in in left to right up the hill, isn’t it? Well, but you’ve got to visualize your shot. So, where do you want to land it? So, you want to land it on the green. Yes, you do want to land it on the green, but no more than probably the first yard cuz it’s going to run out. But I’m looking if I land it a tad short, I think it’ll skid as well. It will. It could do. So, you you’ve got percentage again. And what we always talk about is play the percentages. Don’t always play for the perfect shot. Play for your percentages. And that will allow you to have a margin for error. Yeah. I think anything on that top tier I’ve done really well. Well, if you get it on the top tier, you’ve got a chance of birdie, obviously. So, so again, it’s all about rhythm. Don’t take your eye off the ball. Smooth. No. Looked up, did I? Yeah. See, I just thought I didn’t hit it. Did I look up? No, you looked up and that’s So, I thought the noise it fine, but you didn’t make the contact because you weren’t looking at the ball. Right. See, I thought it sounded nice. Hit it good, but not. It sounded okay, but that doesn’t mean you’ve made the right contact for the shot that you’re looking for. You’re making a swing where you It’s a almost a glancing blow. It’s not bad. You didn’t catch it fat and you didn’t catch it thin, but you took your eye off it now. So, I need keep you say basically keep you keep saying that. Are you saying just keep down a bit longer? No. All you got to do is keep your eye on the ball and let the club pass that point. Right. Okay. That’s really really important because it then creates I like how you’re giving me these tips when playing against this is good. It shows the character of Manuel. It’s not true what Graeme said about you. I think you’re all right. Yes. I’m not going to say what he says about me. Right. So I was probably about three or four yards short, but still never mind. Okay. Well, you’ve let me off the hook there because I was thinking I was going to have I think I have. I think I have, Gary. Yeah, I think I have. I think I should have been definitely you should have been putting second. Yes. So you’ve looked at the the putt. Yeah. I’ve got uphill and then slightly downhill at the end. Yes. So it’s all about pace. It’s a show’s terrible. It’s actually not an easy two put, is it? No. Certainly in the summer it’s not not bad. I’ll take that. I’ll take that. I’m happy with that. Okay. See, I’m not going for birdies. I think par, you know. It’s just It’s just outside the outside that circle of friendship. Yeah. Circle of friendship. Yeah. Circle of what do we call it? Press circle of love. Circle of death. Probably. Would you like it in or out, sir? Uh, out’s fine for me cuz as I said before, I’m a I’m an outy. do want to give it a chance because I have a feeling you will make that. So, better pace. Well, it was a decent enough. Misread it. I will give you that guy. Thank you very much. That’s very kind of you. I’m actually going to give you this, but I’d like you to hold it. So, what does that mean? I’m giving it to you. But you want me to hold it? I want you to hold it because the thing about it is this is good practice. This is actually a gimme. There you go. Now, isn’t that more satisfying than me giving you? No, not at all. Right. After three holes, we we’re saying this after three holes because we’ve not brought a scorecard. We We don’t want to be played 10 holes or eight holes and they get it all wrong. Three holes, Gary is one up. But I’ll let him off. Right. I’m going to hit an eight time. So small bit of wind then isn’t there? There is. And I’m going to have to hit this. Well, I actually think this is come out of nowhere now. That little wind has done it. Yeah, it’s um Well, you say that it’s not much, but it will make a it’ll make a difference. It’s got to go. I didn’t get it. Was the wind kicking? No, that was that’s opened the door. He does because I’ve got nine. I wasn’t I wasn’t sure. I didn’t hit that. And my timing is awful cuz uh I’m not uh I’m not using my hands. Still the one under gross, Gary. Yeah. Yeah. Still one under gross. Yeah. Yeah. Don’t worry. But uh you’ll get used to me. I’ve got very high standards. Right. Come on then. I don’t know if I’ve got I’ve missed the green. I don’t know if I’ got wrong club. But you can’t be big. That’s the beauty of this. You can’t be big to be honest. Uh you’ve probably got 10 yards behind the flag. So that was a again just looked up like I did. It was, wasn’t it? You’ve caught the tree and you’ve missed the green as well. I think you should have hit eight. And if I was a if I’d been cadding for you, I think I had the right club. No, I think it’s the thing is there’s a margin for error. It’s like percentages. You couldn’t have reached the river with an eight on. Uh, but in me head in in your head you could have done. So, have you visualized what you’re going to play? I’ve got the club cuz I normally chip with the same club. So, there’s one for you. All right. But it’s just what I do within reason. Yeah. And I’m visualizing it. Yeah. Yes. So, when you stand up on the green, you’ll see better what you’re trying to achieve. Okay. This is without You don’t have to be super slow uh to do this. Yeah, dude. Good half. This yours a little tricky one as well. Very actually. But yours are trickier than mine. I would say definitely. But uh I didn’t want to say that to give you any hope. Still a competitor, ain’t you, Gary? Oh, mate. You’ve no idea. It’s love with that, isn’t it? Beautiful. Who needs Gary for a comment? Excuse me. I’ve just I’ve coached you all the way around. You’ve played the perfect shot and then he go, “Who needs Gary for a comment?” Got a mark on that. Is that all right? Well, we’ll just mark it. It’s It’s a negotiation cuz don’t forget I’ve still got to play mine yet. Right. It’s probably just outside the love, Gary. Well, we’ll see. It might I’m I’m feeling there’s a lot of love coming here. So, uh, oh, I can reciprocate the love, as it called. Yes. Yes. Oh, checked up. Lovely. But not what you wanted. Uh, that didn’t do what I expected. And I probably looked up. So now I’m the one under pressure. I think there’s a little bit of movement in them both, Carrie. I don’t think they’re easy. Well, I think there’s a little there’s a little bit of movement here, but not much. Do you know what that river is over there, Gary? Go on. The river Kent. Is it really? And it meets the river Roach, which is quite um interesting considering that Kent is about 280 miles away. Yes. Wonder why they called it Kent. It’s because of the farmer, George Kent. Back in the day, they named it after him. First person to have a farm in Kendall. Oh, there we go. Knowledge is the bomb. You got fan over there. Look. Right. Okay. So, left lip and just stay positive. Try to anyway. Okay. Club face nice and square. Uh, pulled it. Oh, take that away, sir. Right now. Unfortunately, because that’s happened, I have to give you that. Give it, me? No. As in, I’ve got to make you hold it. I nearly picked that up. I like how you’ve knocked my wedge off here to get it all wet. I think the wind’s the wind picked up. Oh, did it? Right. Come on then. This is back to all square. I’m feeling it. That was poor. It’s hard when you’re commentating though as well, isn’t it? Yeah, it sort of is. Sounds like an excuse to me. Right, back to all square. Well done. Is that four? Is that forward? No. Check that. Hey, we’re getting close to that on getting close to that immoral half. I’ve let you off the hook here. Yeah, this is a three shooter. This is 530 yards. 530. Come on. Doesn’t matter now cuz it’s just keep it in place. It’s just, you know, literally it’s just let the big dog eat the hole. Come on. I can feel a bit of grip and rip here. No, not on this hole. Oh no, he says no. Not griff and rip at all. Nice little rhythm that one Gary on it. 7.8. We always have a blow pull, don’t we? I’m going to have to start getting competitive here because um I’ve been too um too nice. Come on. Turn through it. Lovely shot, mate. Now that’s your best today. That was It is today, but that’s not saying a lot. That was all right. You’re loose now, aren’t you? Well, I’m looser. Looser. That was a bit better. But it doesn’t help me cuz uh it’s we’re you’re still going to be laying up like I am. Yeah, definitely on this one. Oh, we both are. Right. Just a little pop up here. Something short of the tree. And it’s it’s literally just a little little punt for five or a 3wood. G. I’m just going I’m going down the shaft on the 3-wood just to to get it down to hopefully where I’d like to get it. Nice. Which is about there. Love that. Yeah, it’s just it’s just a straightforward easy shot. It’s not You don’t want to go super big, do with that tree. Yeah, you’ve Yeah, the blasted oak, as they call it, is one of the best features on this uh on this particular design. And this is part of the old original golf course. It’s a good tree, though, isn’t it? It’s a fantastic tree. It’s been lpped a bit because it had to be. Um, but it’s a fantastic feature. Really is. Got about 200 at 90, I think. Got about 200 to the tree. So, you want to hit a 190 shot. Yeah. About five. Sevenwood’s fine. Or you going to go more? I’m thinking I’ve either got my 35wood or four iron in me head. Well, so you think either way. The sevenwood’s just as good. Why not sevenwood? Yeah, seven wood’s fine. Yeah, that’s what I’d club you. Yeah, seven wood. So, all about rhythm again. Targets that little tree on the right of the big tree. Is that Yeah, that’s fine. You’re not going to run out of fairway or you shouldn’t do. Oh, lovely strike. You can’t hit it better than that. Oh, that’s nice. H an absolutely A1. together, aren’t we? Yeah, that’s not far off. I’m might be just a little bit further down, but um you’ll be able to put me under pressure now. Do you know who sung that under pressure? Well, I don’t know quite how you’ve sung that, so I’m not quite sure. D Under Pressure. Looks like you David Boy and Queen, but you look like David Boy. That hat on. Hey, there’s a ringer for you. Spitting image could come back now if Gary Wilson stor NBA’s David Boy. I like that one. Yeah, thanks. He’s still alive, is he? No. Oh, is he dead? Yes, thanks. That’s one. Oh, yeah. Really? I always feel it’s hard to visualize this shot when the flag is on eye level. So, actually, how far is the flag onto the green? Where do I play it? It’s tricky. It’s a good flag today, especially with the wind being into off the left. See, I’ve got it’s actually a great yardage. I’ve got 108. What have you got? Uh 98. 97. 98, but that’s a great yardage for me. So, I’d be disappointed to finish too far away. Okay. I want to go right at the pin, I think. Yeah. But the problem is I’m cuz forget you. I’m not I shouldn’t be playing for par, but that’s my handicap level. Yeah. No. And also don’t forget you’re then putting me under pressure to have to make birdie. I’m going to have to make birdie on all these holes cuz so far the worst you’ve made is a par. Don’t tell me your problems. He walked into that. Come here. No. No. No. 7.8. You’re trying to be nice to me now. Get on with it. Come on. You know what I’m That was funny. That was it. It was funny. Good strike. You just got ahead of it. And of course with the wind actually that’s a bonus. You’ve missed the bunker. So, but it’s a not an easy two putt that. Oh, so Gary’s got one away. He’s in his match player now. He’s so miss shadow your way. Sorry, Gary. Don’t worry. That’s fine. That’s on it if it’s right number. Oh, Gary, you’re spinning next to the pin. Not annoyed. You’re old square. This nine handicapping. I wasn’t happy about the last, I’ll tell you that. What did you hit there, That was uh my 58 uh 48. Great shot, sir. Thank you. Right, come on then. Now, this is testing you. Despite how good the greens are. Uh this is just a long put, isn’t it? So, we get two pot here. Yeah. Right. I’ll walk it cuz I mentioned you mentioning that right down. Try and visualize the shot. See here. See? Uh hit it over the flag. But unfortunately, this is a big big moment. This if I can get a two pop that’ll panic. You see, you won’t expect this. Okay, come on then. Good contact required. just pace. Yeah, I thought it they were were moving weird ways. That golf ball was it it what you tend to find is that because of the way it’s been cut, it creates um a grain. A bit gray. So, it’s left to right, right to left, you know, depending on the grain left, you know, how it’s been cut. That’s a typical Parkland uh experience. Just me in here. What a pot. What a pot. Right. Well, it’s made up for the silly moat buggy on the last. Right. Come on then. Let’s see. Oh, this is for nothing anyway, is it? No, it doesn’t matter. Still good practice. Oh, I thought you were going to make that. Okay, so that’s uh How many have we played now? Five or six? How many have we played? Five. We played five and on one down. Okay. So, there’s four left maybe. Unless you birdie again. Right. If we remember how many holes we played. Yeah. Five in it. Oh, you’re having a fun time. You forget. Senior moment. Good birdie, sir. Good bird. Very good bird. Wedge play is unbelievable. No, wedge play is good. All right, so Gary’s just bringing us on a great hole. I personally think it’s a difficult hole because you can’t really tee off with driver. That’s why I think it’s a hard open because it bottlenecks in well again to me, you know, you’ve got to commit. And in actual fact, driver is the club, but you’ve just got to commit to it. Yeah. Well, on one down after five, I’ll take that. Actually, in fact, I think I’m playing all right. I think you’re playing great. You’re only one over part. I know that’s was that long cut, but I put my legs there. And you are back to one under part, I think. One under. Yes. Is it going as you are to a three up by now? No, no, no. Straight down the breeze as well. And it is literally committing to uh to the shot. 360 yards. It is. It does bottleneck. Well, this is some of the bigger hitters. This is putting pressure on me. This Well, we’ll see if I could put it uh on the fairway. It puts pressure on you. It does. Yes, Gary. Proper fairway finder. That Yeah, that’s on the fairway. It’s funny. A few years ago, just to give you some idea on match play, uh as a professional, I’ve run into the ex-president of the French Federation, right? and he was the uh referee for this particular tournament and uh he said uh oh great to see Gary all that d so he said uh do you know what your nickname was by the other French players and I went no idea at all I said didn’t even know I got one he said it’s nightmare nightmare so nobody wanted to play me cuz you always went plop well but it was the fact of being able to do stuff that others were probably unlikely to do under the same circumstance. What were your biggest assets? Short game. Oh, short game. And keeping the ball in play and also not caring about whether somebody was out driving me like you are, you know, every hole. I wonder if I’ve got the right club here. I don’t know how. You’ve got to commit to it. Whatever. Yeah. You just came out of it a little, but I’ll tell you now, it’ll be all right. Well, it’s okay. It’s going to be I can’t go for the flag. No, that’s going to be that’s going to be the issue. Sometimes I hit this, he has a small bit of draw. Not quite. You were more worried about going left. I will just So, in other words, what’s happened is you just come up and out of it. Just left the club face ever. And I was talking about small margins, but I tell you now, it was still a good swing. Yep. I’m happy. Well, the reason I’m happy, I think I won’t be blocked so where I can get it on the green if a nice iron shot. I’m hoping. And I do think where that pin is. It’s not an easy bird if it’s downhill up there, isn’t it? It is, but it there’s again we go back to the the quality of the design. You’ve got zones on the green. Yes. and you’ve got a distinct, you know, sort of hogs back to the green itself. So that creates an issue in itself, but the zone that the flag is in is such that you’ve got to be prepared to commit to hitting to that zone to give yourself a chance for birdie. Well, I’m not far back. I’m all right, but I’m not too sure. I think you struck that pretty good. I think it’s a little bit tight to the trees. The trees are an issue. Yes, but as you said on the tea, left at green. Left half of the green is never a bad play. It leaves you. Oh, you’re wedging. So that’s a bad thing for me. Okay, you it doesn’t really matter what club, you’re not going to get it over the flag, over these trees. So you’ve got to try and play either a little cut or just a straight shot pin high left pitching wise just straight. I think. Right. Go on then. It’s downwind as well, isn’t it? It’s downwind as well. And you should get a a bit of a fly um with the uh moisture in the rough as well. So, that’s good. Just that one branch. If it doesn’t mess with it, I might be all right. Come on then. Commit to it, though. Oh, by the way, it’s got to go, Gary. It’s perfect. Can’t see it. Oh, do you want me to tell you how perfect it was? Is that how you can’t see it? Smear on my glasses. You’ll have this problem being younger than me. I’ll just There we go. Right. It’s perfect. It’s on the green. A little bit of fade with a wedge, which is quite unusual. Small bit thin, but I’m taking it. A good shot. That was It’s world class, actually. Oh, stop it. Uh, I’m really happy with the shot. 107. 107. Are you in a little wedge? I’m going to No, no, no. I’m going to hit I’m going to hit the same club as I did on the last hole. 48 is it? Yeah, it’s a 48. Yeah, but again, my 48 it’s it’s it depends on how I hit it. And come on, Gary. You don’t mean it. Do I love nice golf? Yeah. Right. Okay. Oh, caught it thin. It’s got to go. I think she’s getting a piece. It has. And it was okay. But cuz I caught it thin, that’s in basically come up and out of it slightly. I’ve not committed to getting it down to the Is that why the go right a little? So that might my wedge on the par five there. Was that just It was probably just coming out. You wanted to see it go near the flag. Yes. Yes. And that’s that that’s a cardinal sin. But Garrett, we’re not machines, are we? No, that’s true. That’s what makes the game so. And if I can get an here, that’s six holes, one dome. I’m doing great. Yeah, cuz if I get to the next door, which I probably will, in my head, I’ve got a moral half. It’s me first. But I’m very very very very very happy to be on the green and regulation and not that far away. So all you’d be trying to do now is get it somewhere near the flag, a bit closer than they have done. Maybe a foot pass would be nice. Well, a foot pass will always give it a chance to go in. And this is what we talk about. 18 inches past the flag or the hole with every putt pacewise is not a bad uh achievement. No, feel like that’s a better putt. And it’s a better putt. We’ll give you that one. It’s more of a gimme. But not got there still. Has it? To be fair, Gary, I still didn’t get it right up to the O, did I? No. But it’s my own fault. I know who Py are now. So, it’s nobody else’s fault, is it? No. I’ve not got it by now. Yeah, it’s got miles more p this is chance that wow what a great ah for me that but that was a great put that Gary I can’t believe that’s missed it was a great roll it was it was filling up here I’m almost speechless oh god I can’t believe that’s missed so how is that six holes now or seven so six holes and one to Gary Walters on MBE lookalike David Bowie but he’s a better golfer than David. Can I tell you David Bowie was about four stone lighter than me. It’s facial. Just facial. Oh, thanks. Hey, we’ve got a beast of a pin now. This this will take some burning. I could Somebody said I look like Jim Kerry. Oh, his dad. Thanks for that. I’m not convinced that the five the four well the four rescue that I’ve got. Well, is long better and short here? H long better and short. Oh, yes. Well, definitely as far as the bunker’s concerned. Right. So, commit five iron, Gary. Yeah, I’m going to hit five iron. It’s 155 uphill. It’s And it’s it’s we think 165, don’t we? Yeah, it’s a it’s a 165 shot. And uh you’ve got to hit it properly. No buggering about as they say. So, it’s a nice swing this Gary. That’s the club it’s on. Go, go. Oh, did that pitch in? It was close. Someone’s got his up. That would have been number 23. Someone’s got his mad up. Just Just give him some love. Oh, good with that. He’s coming out here. He’s on a n into nothing because if he beats me, so what? If he loses, he’s in the What do you mean so what? Well, you should be. You play a lot of these matches. I bet you don’t get bit beaten too often. I don’t think I’ve ever won one. Even he’ll laugh his Gary. That were beautiful. That was nice. Yes, I have to say. Really was, mate. Great golf shot that. Yeah. Right. Come on then. You can do it, too. So, you’ve gone up a club. Seven. Six. Yeah. Oh, did have seven now, I think. Yeah. Six is the club definitely. Oh, by the way, great start. Leave it wind. The wind’s just got it. you know, with it leaking off to the right and going with the wind, it’s gone a little bit further than it might have done. So, the back of the green, if you’d hit it to the left of the flag, it would have still been on the green. Yes, that was. And that’s the difference. My I went straight for flag after what you did to Yeah, but you didn’t need to. No, I understand that. No, I’m actually learning a nugget there. Well, I didn’t need to because a day for my handicap. Yeah. So, now I’ve shot that, isn’t it? It’s a very hard shot. It’s a demanding hole. It’d be interesting. But your pitch, Mark, I think it’d be near the flag. Yeah, possibly. Uh, you know, two foot circle. Yeah. Well, 3 foot. Um, but the fact that I’ve got it somewhere near the flag is delightful as far as uh this pin positions concerned. Is your pressure easing? No. Well, no, cuz it will get No, no, no, no, no. It definitely isn’t easing cuz I know that the game is not over by a mile, but I just pleased to hear a good shot. It’s got even better. No dear lost it. I mean, I think I’m going to chip it. Do you know what? I’m really happy. You’ve hit it. You’ve hit it great. I actually said at the time you struck it great. Yeah. Three foot I’m up against. I said three foot on the two foot on the buggy cam. Gary Gary. No, maybe three foot. Three feet. Uh, do you want to put That’s That’s a gimme all day. I’ll put it. Is that Is that three birdies now? Yeah. From the back te’s. Yeah. November. Yeah. Yeah. November. Yeah. Well done, sir. Thank you. Right now, then that clarifies the the uh situation. You’ve got to hold it. Yes. And I don’t think the pitching wedge what I always chip with is the club because it’s just going to go too fast. The the shot is to try and pitch it around about here. So, I think 52, Gary. Yeah. Perfect. No, nothing changes. Head still. Expect the unexpected. I’ve not chipped in probably for about two years, so why not know? Visualize a chip in watching it. I’m Yeah, I’m I’m with you. So, Gary, would you have it on that little Will it go a bit right to left or not? I I would actually, you know, funnily enough, I’d actually say it’s going to go the other way, left to right. Okay. So, I’m happy that you you’ve picked your spot. Land it on that spot. Visualize the shot so that it lands on that fringe. Such a good shot. What a good shot. But you see, I’m going back to soft hands, slow takeaway, keeping your eye on the ball. You did everything just right. As I said before, it’s going to go slightly left to right. You’ve hit a great shot there. Now, let me tell you, most seven, eight, or nine handicappers wouldn’t be expecting to do that close. So, that’s excellent. Thank you. So, that’s another par, but I’ve lost that all. So, I’m two down after seven. So, I’ve got to seven. So, that’s I think if I get to eight, I’ve got a morally half. Oh, totally. So, I need to half this next door. In fact, I actually feel as though I’ve been beaten from the moment I started this match. Well, I as that’s 100% true. Right. Come on then. Par five. Par five. Realistically, if you get it down edge of these trees down the left hand side, obviously with a bit of elevation, you’re not going to reach the water this at this stage in the year. You’d have to Well, you’d have to make a real kaosh of it. If it go straight, will it get in the water? No. Right. Okay. Not if I hit it straight down this left edge of the trees. So, 466 par five. But it is a double dog leg. Yeah. But, you know, the double dog legs taken out with hopefully a decent flight. Well, not my best. Get that right at all. Uh, it’s put me in a dilemma with regards to the next shot. I wish I’d hit that better. That was a poor poor swing. Not a machine. No, I know. But, uh, you still get a birdie from there. I think you’ve had a birdie on every par five. Yeah. All right. Well, let’s just not count our chickens as they say, right? Come on then. So, just a good rhythm and you want to be the the two trees behind the back of the green is a great great line. That’s all you got to do. Commit to that. And in fact, anything left of that is still good. Really good. You just got to get nice nice uh elevation on the T-OT. Oh my good go turn. That’s fine. Yeah, it’s just in the semi. I take that. You’re a little longer than me. And I What would say though, Gary, the the pressure was on me because I knew uh you had to be in play. And parts of me thinking, have I got too much club if it goes straight? No. If you if you gone straight, as in um you know, the line that you hit it on. No, but if you gone further right, yes. So if I’d been cadding for you, threewood would have been the shot. I was going to go for that thinking I can hit that and sometimes that turns over when I Yeah. And that’s not a problem. But the shot you’ve just played should give you some. Well, it can give you some confidence. And that’s what I go through with people with oncourse um you know sort of uh management of of their game. If you want to you do you love playing lessons, don’t you? Yes. details there for Gary for all his playing lessons. Make sure you give me all the details. Yeah, I will. I’ll do that because you like doing that. Yeah, I do. And the fact is that regardless of the standard of the player, you can learn a lot from having had a clue as to actually not necessarily right, this is a a five or a four. I always hit driver. It isn’t necessarily always about that. It’s sometimes about playing within your handicap. So for instance, you today are miles under your handicap. Are we playing better than playing my last time? Uh significantly. Yes. I’m getting a bit worried. He’s too up. He’s 200 gross and he’s getting worried. I’d like to have his problems. Wouldn’t you? I’m thinking of pull tax. I can’t lay up. Liam would never let me forget it. Actually, I am laying up, but I’m laying up to the left. It’s actually just out of interest. How far is it? I’ll let you know now, Gary. Well, I’m I’m only going to The left bunker is 195. 204. 204. 195. I’ve got to go for it. God. Right. Come on then. 200. Oh dear. Oh dear. This could This could go terribly pear-shaped. Commit. It’s a gorgeous gold shot, car. Well, we’ll see. You’ll be all right. You smile. You’re happy. Um, what are you thinking? 50/50. Yes. Are you? I didn’t see a splash, mate. Good. I’m deliriously happy. Trust me. I’ve seen a splash. You would have known about it. Oh, would I? You’d have told me, I’m sure. Is seven wood going to get there. What have you got it as? 99. I am actually just short the front edge. So, right. So, I’m missing this. You You’ve not even got 199. I would think you’ve got about 190. So, you’ve got the right club. Yeah. I thought it was a good shot, Gary. 193 you’ve got. Right. Okay. That’s good then. So, commit to the shot, mate. Birdie, put me under pressure. Right. You’ve just come up and out of it because you wanted to see the shot, but I’m gonna say that’s on the tea. Yeah, I think so. There’s plenty of club for it. It was plenty of club. Uh the only problem is, and again, we’re going to go back to this. This is going to be I come out of that. I know I did. And that worked a smooth swing. That Yeah, it was that. Yeah. So, the club face opens up when in actual fact, you want to commit through it. So, let the right shoulder pass underneath your chin. Then all of a sudden all the force is going towards the target line. Yeah. Instead of coming up and out of it. And uh I’m expecting that to be okay. Surely a provisional or not. No, you don’t need to because it’s a it’s a water hazard anyway. The actual quality of the strike itself was fine. We just didn’t get it online. No. But but it will it’ll be up by the tea. Yeah. I have to be up by the tea. Yeah. I think so. Uh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cuz it only be probably wanted 60 160ish, wouldn’t it? Well, yeah, 170 at the moment. I think it had that, didn’t it? Yeah, I think it did, too. I think the strike was good. And with the elevation, it’s downwind. Well, left to right wind. No, I’m not too sure now, Gary. Well, you reckon on that hill or somewhere? No, it’s up there by the uh by the rough, isn’t it? Is that locked? I can’t see up. What’s Oh, there it is. It’s by the path. You’re on the path. All right. Yeah. So, it worked. So, you get a drop off the path. All right. Yeah. I’m not too bad. It The only problem with with this hole, you’ve got to either commit to pitching it on the green cuz when you pitch it short, it’s into a slight ups slope. So, in the winter, it tends to kill it. So, again, you visualized your shot. You’ve got to see it landing on the green. Yeah. Round about here somewhere. Yeah, that’s where I’ve got it. Just to give yourself a chance of an up and down. Don’t look up though. Trust it. Keep your eye on the ball. Go, go, go. Pretty good. Pretty good. Gives you a chance. I need a birdie, don’t I? Drew up a pup. Shane, I had a chance with that seven. But we’re all right. But you watch him. He’s not talking about his shots now. He’s got zone on. I was just a little concerned that you pitched it a tad short, but it’s actually pretty good. Get him. Oh, well, it was a good shot. Struck it well. I landed it where I wanted to. It was just a little bit long. Want me to get your putter cop? Well, no, no, no. You put first. I’ll mark mine. But it did give me a little bit of a clue on the line as well, so that’s good. tentative put now you might I feel like Gary I read that wrong I had it inside right but I didn’t hit it it’s I I would say left half no that you pulled that one but it definitely breaks yeah I think this is for the match Gary well perhaps is it seventh seventh Oh, eight. I lost on the eight. Oh, in me head it’s a half. This is brilliant result. How’s that a half? Is it just in my head? All right. A moral half. No, this ain’t the eighth. Seventh. Seventh. This Well, it’s our eighth hole, I think, cuz we started obviously. Um, you concentrate. Get zone in. Don’t let me get in your head again. Right. Well done, Gary. Another birdie. I enjoyed that. Is that the match? It is, isn’t it? Or have I lost sure? Well, we’ve got two holes to play. Right. So, I’ve lost three and two then, aren’t I? But what I will say, you’ve played great. I have. I’m one over, but that was a proper chance to get a birdie back there and I didn’t. I’m up with my game. But listen, thank you to Graeme. Thank you to Garrett. Now, what you will see is a couple of tips. We’re doing a We’re going to do a couple of tips on putting and chipping what are going to help you. So, you’ll see them shortly. But Gary, cheers, mate. You played great. No, thank you. And you brought some out of me as well, I think. And I feel And I won’t lie to you. I feel like I’ve left some on the course as well. I’m a bit gutted even though I played well. Do you know that’s the beauty of this golf course? I I should have made that put. That would have won. That was a big put. But every time I’ve ever come off this golf course, no matter how well I’ve played, I can’t wait to get back out to play the golf course again cuz I always feel as though I’ve left something out there. And that’s the beauty of the design and the quality of the condition of the golf course at this time of year. I there’s very few Parkland courses that going to be as good as this. Agree. A little question for you. Yeah, go on. Do you think I can lose a couple of shots of a concentrate sometimes? Uh, I think there’s a significant chance that you could be down to five. Oh, please. They’re all going. Not a chance he’ll concentrate. Do you think I’ll concentrate? Well, that’s the question. No.
