A historic public golf course in Washington, D.C., is set for a major redesign, and Tiger Woods has agreed to lend his expertise to the project. Woods and President Trump have maintained a god relationship for years.

A significant revamp is on the horizon for one of Washington, D. C.’s most historic public golf courses, attracting some of the sport’s biggest names, including Tiger Woods. Langston Golf Course, an 18-hole course along the Anacostia River, is poised for a much-anticipated redesign as part of the Nation’s Capital Project.
This initiative aims to rejuvenate the city’s three municipal courses: Rock Creek Park Golf, East Potomac Golf Links, and Langston. The National Park Service owns all three courses, but in 2020 it granted a 50-year lease to the nonprofit National Links Trust (NLT), which has since raised funds to restore the facilities.
This news comes as Donald Trump’s UK golf courses have reported financial losses despite claiming record sales.

Each course has a different world-class architect attached to it – Gil Hanse at Rock Creek, Tom Doak at East Potomac, and Beau Welling at Langston – all contributing pro bono design work to the project, reports the Mirror US.

Renovations at Rock Creek are already in progress and expected to be completed by 2027, with Langston set to follow.
This is where Woods steps in, and where Donald Trump’s name comes into play. A White House adviser told Front Office Sports that Woods has agreed to assist longtime Trump consultant Ed Russo in redesigning Langston Golf Course.
Russo, who currently chairs the White House Environmental Advisory Task Force, confirmed the partnership last week, telling FOS, “I’m responsible for redesigning it and making it better than it ever was. And I’m proud to say that Tiger Woods has agreed to help me do that.”
Russo’s position will primarily concentrate on the environmental aspects of the initiative, including restoring habitats along the river and enhancing water management systems. “I can’t wait to work with Tiger,” Russo said. “He’s a great guy.”

The partnership represents an unusual reunion of sorts between Trump’s inner circle and Woods, whose design company, TGR Design, previously collaborated with Trump Golf on a Dubai project that was ultimately abandoned.
Langston Golf Course holds profound historical importance. It launched in 1939 as Washington’s first course constructed exclusively for African American golfers, and bears the name of John Mercer Langston, Virginia’s first Black congressional representative.
During subsequent years, the course was overseen by Lee Elder, who became the first Black competitor at The Masters in 1975, and whom Woods has recognized as an influence.
Beau Welling, the architect spearheading the Langston redesign, also serves as a senior design consultant for TGR Design. Although Woods’s company isn’t formally participating, the relationship between Welling and Woods facilitated bringing the golfing icon on board.
Bryon Bell, president of TGR Design, informed reporters that the company has “no formal role at this time,” but Woods’s personal involvement hints that he’ll provide design advice and direction to Russo’s team.
