Nick Faldo shows you how to create proper resistance in the back swing takeaway to create maximum power and accuracy. The resistance from the knee and hip and the stretching of the muscles across the back are what create all the speed when you uncoil.
Great backswing takeaway turn tip, you should give it a try.

very simple way of doing that to get the feeling is to put the club right into your belly button hold it down so push it in now now try and turn and get into this first position now I know that’s far more difficult than it looks just because what’s happening this is resisting this is just turning a little bit this is turning more what happens a lot of am will cheat we just do this you see everything goes together so I got a very simple little drill for that using our shaft line put your left toe to the shaft and then put your right heel on the other side hold your right knee there now do it wow now suddenly you’re going to feel what resistance is all about holding the right knee in position you see how that’s really hardly moving isn’t it hip moves a little bit belly move as much as you can try and turn it with your belly so then you get your first position get me and then we then somewhere in this area we’re all very different we want to get the set going

  1. The problem with Leadbetter is he was never consistent with his teaching methods. Seems like every couple years he'd come up with a new swing tactic or technique and contradict the others.. The "A Swing" for example. But some of his old tips can and do work. The preset takeaway drill he taught Faldo and Price actually saved my game. Not that Leadbetter devised it, but he brought it to the public eye.

  2. Way out of date – biomechanics has proven you hit the ball further with more extension in your trail leg which gives more freedom of movement

Resistance with the trail leg will make you hit it short and straight – exactly what Nick did despite being 6’4”

Might have worked in his era but not now where everyone bombs it

  3. I hate to disagree with a hall of famer , but for the average amateur occasional player , this moving off the ball and the early wrist set is too complicated . I think stabilizing the head and just getting good shoulder turn with the left shoulder and knee pointing towards the ball leads to a better strike . Faldo was an incredible player but even the greats are faced with the aging process

  4. My pro has me doing this drill at the moment, but without the foot forward, I'll try that today! Nice! 👍🏻🙏🏻

  5. The best swings use natural movement…. NOT a manufactured Action like "Hold the Right Knee" back. That is a manipulation to the natural swinging motion of the body and club. This is a "golf tip." Golf tips are as worthless as Stock Market Tips.🔥💣🤯😎😂

  6. This is without a doubt the worst drill you could ever prescribe to an amateur golfer. The resistance drills and this one specifically will destroy your lower back!
    Do not try this please.

  7. I thought Nick used the early wrist set where he would hinge the wrists completely before turning the shoulders. Now he’s showing something different.
