Do you think Kai Trump is ready for this elevated stage in the women’s world? #kaitrump #lpga #golf
Things are a little controversial in women’s golf this week. Kai Trump, the president’s granddaughter, is making her LPGA debut this Thursday at the Anukica at Pelican Golf Club. This event is one of the final stops on the LPGA’s calendar before the tour season ending championship. She is just one of three amateurs given his sponsors exemption into this event. This is a really hot topic in the golf space. You’ve got a player whose amateur golf career hasn’t taken off yet, being ranked 461st on the AJ rankings list. But what she might lack in deep junior tournament runs, she makes up with her visibility and reach with over two and a half million Instagram followers and over 7 million followers across all of her social channels. Just last week, she signed with the University of Miami where she’ll be joining the Hurricanes golf team next fall. She’ll actually be missing her high school state championship to play in this week’s LPGA event. Whether you agree with her being invited to play or not, that’s exactly what sponsors exemptions are there for, to invite players who the sponsors believe will garner visibility and provide value to their tournament. And Kai being there will do that, I’m sure.
