Kai Trump is making her LPGA Tour debut and has been able to call on some huge names for advice.
Trump, the granddaughter of the United States President, has been given a sponsor’s invite to The ANNIKA Driven by Gainbridge at Pelican. It marks a major moment in her career before she begins a college golf scholarship at the University of Miami.
Trump’s mom, Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr., is now dating golf’s greatest ever player, Tiger Woods, who had a four-word response to critics of their relationship.
Asked his influence and any advice he had given at her pre-tournament press conference, Kai Trump said: “Yeah, I mean, he is the best golfer in the entire world. I would say that. And even better person.
“He told me to go out there and have fun and just go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens.”
She also shared similar advice from Donald Trump, revealing: “My grandpa pretty much told me go out there and have fun. Just don’t get nervous. Try my best not to.”
They are not the only two big-names who Trump had the chance to mix with ahead of the tournament. She played with tournament host Annika Sorenstram on Monday and said: “I mean, it was amazing.
“I asked her a few questions about her swing and what I should maybe do differently. I just asked her questions around the greens, too, because around these greens it’s tough and you can hit different shots into them and what her opinion would be on some of those shots.
“It was really cool meeting her. She’s a legend, so nice to play nine holes with her.”
Discussing her thoughts on the course at The Pelican Golf Club in Bellair, Florida , she added: “Yeah, I mean, it’s beautiful. It’s in perfect condition. The greens are pretty tough but the actual layout, it’s really nice. Looking forward to it.
“Obviously I think I’m going to learn a lot no matter what happens. I’m just going to go out there and have fun and see which way it goes.
“I’m going to take a lot away from it. Obviously competing with the best players is going to be cool. To be inside the ropes with them playing with them, learning what kind of shots they hit, what do they do on the course. So, yeah, just looking forward to it and playing with the best.”
