Paige Spiranac is used to being in the spotlight, but this week, the golf influencer had to fight back against some of the ugliest hate she says she’s ever received.

After competing in Barstool’s $1 million Internet Invitational, Spiranac was bombarded with rude comments accusing her of favoritism and rule changes. She responded on X, setting the record straight.

“1. The Barstool/BDS team picked me as one of the 4 captains. I didn’t pick myself,” she wrote. “2. Micah, Peter, and Brad would absolutely smoke me from the same tees so it wouldn’t have been fair for anyone on my team. 3. I said, ‘We won that draft’ to pump my team up. 4. Hand up, I was annoying lol.”

Spiranac also called out the double standard she faces online.
“Funny how everyone says I’m so terrible until the draft, and suddenly I’m stacking my team,” she added.

Earlier in the week, the 31-year-old posted an emotional Instagram video after a vulgar message told her to “go kill yourself.” Through tears, she admitted the hate “hit home,” saying she’s struggled socially her whole life despite her confident public image. “I’ve just never been effortlessly liked,” she said.
By morning, Spiranac had regrouped. “Sorry for being emo last night,” she joked to followers. “I’ll save my deep dark insecurities for therapy next time lol.”

Either way, Spiranac manages to keep going viral, and frankly, most of the time it’s for really good reasons. She needn’t sweat the trolls.
