Wanted to have a way to practice during the cold winters here in the Midwest , after watching a bunch of garage build videos I decided to build my own, the requirements were:
- has to be quick and easy to setup and break down because I need to park a full size truck
- budget of 5k or less for everything
Feel pretty good about the first version of this, here’s the current specs:
- home course retractable impact screen : 2000
- voice caddie sc4 pro launch monitor: 400 (on sale on amazon)
- wall mounted space heater from amazon: 100
- ‘4k’ generic projector from amazon , the brand is goodee or something : 140
- generic hitting mat from amazon: 100
- generic turf 10×20: 300
- random things like curtain track and curtains , ceiling mount for projector: ~200-250
The dimensions of my garage:
- width : 10.5 ft
- Height: 9.5 ft
- Length: 20 ft
Currently running e6 on iPad mini and air playing it to the projector with the sc4 pro, it’s doable , but the latency is too long for regular sim use it takes ~2-3 seconds after you hit the ball to see it on the screen, so I ended up buying the square golf launch monitor since I’m still within budget lol. Its a good start , looking to upgrade to a short throw projector at some point to improve the quality , the generic Amazon projector is serviceable , but you have to mess with the keystone settings and it’s not a 100% perfect projection that you see with the custom carls place setups.
Wanted to share this because I was looking for a resource for setting up a basic golf sim setup in 3rd garage stall. Interested in recommendations or feedback on this setup, really excited to build on this.
