It’s like calling sport Jiu-Jitsu a fight when it’s a sport. People are eager to glorify the things they do.
So by that logic Marathon running not a sport, baseball isnt a sport, swimming not a sport.

Technically speaking it might not meet the definition. "An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment." Are you actually competing against others – you could argue no in that each player is doing it individually i.e. the other people have no impact on what you are doing. Similarly you could argue things like track arent sports, and the only true sports are the ones that involve interaction between competitors. I don't agree but I get the argument.
