Grew up playing this 9 hole course. Played it when I went back up there this summer. Now it’s closed.

I played a high school tournament there once. Why did it close?

  2. Same thing happened to me, course sold to the local park system. Can drive by it and see the tree lines and still pictures that place. The owners of these places aren’t around forever unfortunately

My high school course was purchased with intentions of turning it into a zoo which never happened as the city voted it down. Now just overgrown acreage.

Played many tournaments there for school. Damn shame

I didn’t grow up playing golf, but there’s a course in my hometown that was always there. Been there since 1952. Interestingly, Bryson is also from my hometown and he was at this course a few months ago. I went back last month and played a round there. Found out it’s going to close next year. Lease is up and they are going to expand the airport. Too bad, was such a staple there.

Sorry to hear that. My condolences🙏

Lame! Used to drive by it on the way to Gold Beach from the valley back in the day

  8. My dads course was closed after the owner died and his wife took over but just couldn’t make it. Good part, was turned into a park that connects to the parkway plus hiking/biking trail going around the city. So disc golf, pond that can be fished now, picnic tables and such. Favorite to play, but that what happens in big cities. Could have been worse, new little rich asshole housing.

Ugh that is just awful. The executive course where I first picked up the game closed right as I was starting to get serious about golf and it just devastated me (to make things worse, they never redeveloped the land too so I’d see the remnants of it alongside the highway every time I’d pass, taunting me).

It’s not close, but at least you have Eureka Muni still. That one downhill short par three with the narrow tee shot through the redwoods absolutely destroyed my ass in a junior tournament (multiple stress-shanks off the tee, i think I ended up making a 9).
