The yardage counter across the bottom of the screen is from the white competition T’s, but all T yardages are shown in the top left corner for the relevant hole. With that out of the way, here we are on the first T for an opening shortish par three. Provides a good chance to get your round off to a solid start by being one of the easiest holes on the course, at least on paper. Two key things on this one, out of bounds all down the left and to the right. And secondly, take care not to under club. You may have noticed the compass on the tee showing this is a westerly facing hole. So chances are the wind will be blowing against you. You’ll see the two bunkers to the right and how the ground slopes smartly towards them. So any shot finding the right hand side of the green is in danger of kicking right and into trouble. So be aware. Looking down on the green, a couple of things. The hotter the color, the more pronounced the slope. The tighter the lines, the more steeply the slope will shift the golf ball. The left half of the green is somewhat flatter, but note the much more severe slopes on the right hand half of the green. So have an eye on pin placement on this one and do your best to avoid anything that means a dreaded downhill putt. So hopefully you’re off to a solid start. I’ll see you next on the second te.
