PXG Mustang Zero Torque Putter tech breakdown #pxg #pxggolf #pxgmustang #pxgputter
Now, the vast majority of zero torque putters come in a mallet shape, and you can see they’re taking the tour by storm and with everyday golfers as well. But what does that leave for the blade lovers out there that are looking for a zero torque option? Well, there are only a few out there, and I’ve got one of them in my hands today. This is the brand new PXG Mustang, which is, as you can see, a blade style putter, but it has that toe-up design and is a zero torque putter as well. So, let’s dive into it and see why this could be a great option for you. Now, immediately what I like about the PHG Mustang is the shape. Yes, it’s a blade shape, but you’ve got these two little kind of fangs here at the end, and then you have the center channel with the alignment line. So, when you kind of sit it down on the deck, it really does allow you to get the ball right in the middle of the club head as well. Not only that, again, just the way this is designed, there’s very minimal shaft lean. There’s only a degree. Now, if you kind of look at the design, obviously where the shaft goes into the grip, just being able to eliminate that kind of forward press when you when you do grip it and stand over it, it does feel very neutral, which is quite clever. Now you’ve also got this patent s hoszle design here which if you to kind of look like the kind of traditional zero torque putters that shaft will kind of go would in theory go right into the back. But the way this is designed and the way that that’s shaped that gives you that toe up zero torque design as well. Now with this being a blade putter this may not look like it should have what I’m about to say but this is a hollow body design. So right here in this whole channel um sitting behind the face is hollow but it’s filled up with a proprietary polymer which stabilizes and enhances the kind of obviously structure but gives you great sound and feel as well when you hit it across the face. Now not only that what you have is PXG’s thinnest putter face to date at 0.055 055 in, which is probably almost like a grain of sand, but that’s what gives you that great feel and sound off this putter head. Now, with this being a hollow body design, that allows you to redistribute weight, which is why you’ve got these two little fangs here, giving you great MOI, but also helping kind of move that CG further forward. Now, if you incorporate this S huzzle, this is what gives you that toe up kind of zero torque, allowing you to move that center of gravity further forward. Now, if you combine all of that with PXG’s pyramid face design, you get a great combination of consistency, feel, and then with that zero torque design, you’re going to get great stability, especially with the grip as well, kind of allowing you to have more of a neutral kind of look. Just allows you to keep the putter as square as possible all the way through impact.
